In the moment, Alec was happy. He had a bucket of popcorn, three large blankets, and his two best friends to surround himself with. He felt okay with life.
"Hand me the popcorn." Brook exclaimed, pointing a finger at the bowl that sat on the table in front of them.
Josh reaches over to the table, grabbing the bowl and handing it to her. She grabs it silently, shoving a handful of opcorn into her mouth before thanking him. Alec reaches over her and grabs a handful of his own.
He was happy just sitting in silence. It often gave him time to think to himself. He enjoyed being around others when he wrote lyrics, the company reminding him that he isn't actually alone.
Brooklyn jolts herself up into a seated position, popcorn jolting along with her. The leg that she had crossed underneath her jamming into Josh's own. "Holy shit."
"Ow." Josh whines, rubbing his leg.
"What?" Alec questions, leaning over her shoulder to see what she was looking at.
"Brendon Boyd fricken Urie just followed me on Instagram." She exclaimed, an amused look of bewilderment written across her face.
Alec goes to respond, but chokes on the popcorn he'd shoved in his mouth. Josh pats at his back in disinterest, but continues to scroll and continues to scroll through his phone.
"Followed me too." Josh added, turning his phone towar Alec as proof.
"Do you, like, know him?" Alec questioned, pulling the cover farther up his chest, a nervous laugh escaping his throat.
"Don't play dumb Alec, you know he's coming for you." Brook glared, knowing exactly what was going to conspire from this situation.
"Well when you put it that way, it sounds like he's hunting me down." Alec claims.
Josh sets his phone down on his stomach, and turns to look at them. "What am I missing here?"
"Nothing really. It's not that big of a deal." Alec responds, hoping Josh won't say anything about the strange tone in his voice. He knows Josh wouldn't just leave it alone though.
"Basically they've been friends since elementary school and after graduation Brendon up and left without saying anything and Alec cried for like 4 hours straight." Brook explains, and Alec slaps his palm against his face because he should have known Brook could never keep her mouth shut. "I'm sorry, I know you don't like to talk about it, but this isn't something we're just gonna tiptoe around. He hurt you, and you miss him, I know that. I've seen the box of vinyls under your bed, it's okay. But I'm not okay with him just trying to walk back into your life like it was nothing, which is clearly the only outcome to this situation."
Alec nods, because he knows what she's talking about. SHe had to watch him deal with the heartbreak that came with the loss of a friend. The loss of a best friend. And he did have a box hidden under his bed, but he'd only ever pull them out when he felt especially sad. He never really mention the has been relationship to anybody.
"Wait, so you're from Nevada?" Josh questions. In all the time they'd been friends, Alec had never really mentioned where he was from.
"Uh, yeah. Born and raised. Kinda."
Brooklyn stared at Josh with widened eyes and shook her head quickly. Josh frowns and shrugs his shoulders in question.
Alec didn't talk about his past for a reason.
