Brendon wasn't entirely sure how he'd ended up in a situation like this, but he supposed it was his fault in the first place.

Okay, maybe that's not entirely true, but he knew he didn't like being in the situation. After years of trying to figure out how to cope with the idea that you don't actually know who your best friend is anymore and how to fix it, you start to lose faith in every other relationship you've ever formed. Clearly he knows it's his fault, but that doesn't mean he's not upset about the whole thing. Brendon could usually pride himself on how easy going he was, but right now he wasn't acting very easy going.

"You're gonna pull something if you don't chill out." Maya exclaimed as she flipped to the next page.

Maya Springfield was, among other things, the calmest person Brendon had ever had the pleasure of having in his life. She also had a raging temper, a kind smile, and a big heart. Brendon often found himself smiling at the thought of Maya helping him pick out clothes or yelling at him when he didn't follow the directions for a recipe.

"That's very helpful, thank you." He sighed, rubbing at his face. He shoves himself further into the couch, the confined feeling welcoming him.

"Have I really ever been helpful?"

" I don't know, you're pretty good at being a pain in my ass."

"Haha, very funny." Maya mocks, narrowing her eyes at him. "I could say the same thing for you, but like times ten."

"Felt cute, might be a pain in your ass later, I don't know."

"Shut the hell up." Maya exclaimed. She pushes a piece of stray hair behind her ear, closing her book and moving to face him. "Now, tell me what's really wrong."

So he does. He tells her about all the things he's been thinking: how he wants to be with his best friend again, how he wants to make things right. He's never really been afraid to tell Maya about anything, but he does have a problem with holding things in for to long. He'll usually just keep things to himself, in fear that he won't be able to actually put his thoughts into words, but Maya's helped him through it a lot.

"Look, I'm not saying he's gonna accept an apology right away, or at all even, but it couldn't hurt to try. " Maya advises. "And if he doesn't accept one at all, then you go from there."

Go from there.

Yeah, Brendon could do that.
