[A young woman confronts her lover about him cheating]

SCRIPT:
You know what, Peter? The world is full of guys like you - sarcastic guys who spend all their time cleverly pointing out the shortcomings of others, rolling their eyes, shaking their heads, passing judgment and cracking jokes.
You're not unique. You're just one more pretentious idiot. I have had enough of guys like you, you supposedly "damaged" guys who don't "believe" in monogamy anymore, who announce ahead of time that they're not interested in being someone's boyfriend.
*Steps forward* You think this honesty makes you a decent person, but at the end of the day, you're still taking advantage of women who, *Waves arms around* for whatever reason, don't know that they deserve better.
Don't you dare walk away from me! And don't tell me you're sorry! And don't tell me to forget it, and don't you dare tell me to "let it go." You know, I'd like to. I wish I could, but I can't! You're running away! Don't you see, Pete? You're running. Why, because you're scared? Well, I'm scared too, deep down, I know am.
But you and me- *Points to nothing then to herself* we had something worth fighting for. And I know deep down, under this *Spitting out the word* bravado, you care about me. And that's what it's all about, Peter, don't you get it?
It's the human experience. You can pretend all you want, but you're only lying to yourself. You're denying the simple and wonderful fact that you are emotional and vulnerable, and alive. *tears up and sniffles*
Can you honestly stand there and tell me that I meant nothing to you? (Amy is crying or close to it. The following is a painful statement that she makes not to attack or threaten Peter but rather, to allow herself closure with the situation.) You know what? I feel sorry for you, Pete. I'll move on. I'll find someone else. I'll be alright because I will know that I tried. That I did everything I could.
But I know that you, Peter, will not be alright because you didn't even try a bit. But someday you will look back, and you will realize what you threw away. And you will regret it always. (Begins to walk away but stops to say the last few lines) You know what, if that didn't change you or your mind, I'm leaving.
(Throws Necklace on the floor) I'm done with this. Goodbye Peter.
END SCENE
Hey everyone!
I'm not exactly sure who the author for this monologue is either, seeing as one of my other friends had given me this script as a reference for a project but it didn't contain the owner's name. If you know, please tell! Thank you.
Hope you enjoyed!
