His gaze met mine,
soul to soul, eye to eye.
His intensity with clear intent.I remembered the younger years,
The days of my youth,
vivid between the fine lines on my cheeks,
forcing a smile.Lips just bearing teeth,
completely insincere.
I was cold,
unfeeling,
unaware. This boy no longer had the sway upon me
that he used to bare.I don't know him,
my mind forces me to say.But I did in fact.
I knew him all too well. His past, his passion, his dreams...
what they were,
not what they are now.As it was,
in his eyes, I could only see —
his tortured soul,
consumed by so many fears. The face looking back at mine,
was but a face...
worn by the hands of time. The remnant —
of the boy he used to be,
not the man he is now.Oh how the years come and go,
people change and they grow. One minute you're frolicking,
the next —
you wished time would slow.Like with the wind,
you either blow...
in the direction, it urges you to follow —
Or seek your own direction,
For one must choose their own path.Choosing mine,
I chose not to say hello.Within my heart,
I said goodbye —
to the boy, I used to know.__________________________________
