Sugar Burns

My eyes burn holes into the ceiling,
similar to the way you burned,
yourself into my heart.

Drifting out of focus,
still dreaming
of a time where,
nothing could tear us apart.

You're a treat, my soul's delight,
a confectionary,
so sweet —
you keep me up at night.

Jittery and unhinged,
my mind avoids sleep.
I never knew —
how fast my heart could beat...
for you, my souls to keep.

I need you,
you're the type of sugar I crave.
Because of you,
I become more of a visionary,
left in a sugary haze.

You're sugar-coated,
a sip of love, I'm devoted.
Got me so in my emotions —
words become unspoken.

This sweet love has left me in a daze.
You peel away layers upon layers,
setting my heart ablaze.
I'm dulcified —
so wrapped up in this candy craze.

Air whipped, so enticing...
you're my treasure,
cuz my imagination whispers that we're forever.

The way your words reel me in,
you've become my hearts aggressor.
So it does cling,
refusing to let go of our tether.

I remember giggling, chuckling,
even laughing till I cried.
But now I'm drowning,
in the tears of our story —

Cascading in our perfect fantasy,
I'm convinced every romance...
is nothing but a lie.

Your love immortalized this unconditional feeling,

an eternal one I felt from the start.

Your sickeningly sweet sugary murmurs,
seeping in and melting my foolish heart.
