Skylox: the maid

Chapter 2

Sky woke up the next morning smiling. This would be the day he started his job. He would finally be able to get money for his family and not live in fear anymore. He ran out the door only glancing at the time. 11:20. The auditions would end in 10 minutes! What if King Deadlox already picked someone?! Sky shook his head. He couldn't afford to be thinking this negative he just had to get there, and fast. The time was 12:28 and the room was empty. Deadlox had not excepted any of the people who showed up, and that was about 200 people. Deadlox sighed with disappointment as he was about to get off his throne when he saw a boy who were a black shirt with an amulet what he wearied around his neck run in the door. Deadlox slowly sat back down in his throne and looked down at the boy.

"And who may you be?" Deadlox asked studying the boy. Deadlox didn't recall ever seeing this boy before, not even in town, but when the boy looked up he saw Sky's buttery eyes, he immediately noticed how beautiful this boy was.

"I-i'm Sky." He said with a quiet stammer. He didn't know what would happen if Deadlox said no. Would they let him go? Would they kill him? All these questions were running through his head when Deadlox interrupted those thoughts.

"Well Sky, why do you want this job?" Deadlox asked. He really didn't care what Sky said. He needed to have Sky.

"Well, Deadlox sir, my mom and I can barely afford our house because she doesn't work and neither do I, and I really need this job to support me and my mother." Sky said hoping for the best.

'Wow' Sky thought to himself, 'that was the best reason he had ever heard.' Deadlox smiled at Sky. This was going perfectly. "Well then, Sky, considered yourself hired." Deadlox said keeping on his genuine smile. Sky was about ready to burst with joy. He actually got the job!

"Thank you sir!" Sky said with so much happiness in his voice, "You wont regret it, I promise!" Sky said as he ran out of the room.

"I bet I won't." Deadlox said to himself once Sky was gone. Sky ran all the way home without stopping rushing past people and accidentally knocking papers out of peoples hands. He zoomed through his front door and ran up to his mom.

"How did it go?" She asked excitedly

"I was the only one! And I start tomorrow!" Sky said so glad to share the news. He still couldn't believe it! His mom hugged Sky as Sky hugged her back. Then Sky started explaining what happened while his mom had the widest smile Sky had ever seen. Then Sky heard the doorbell ring. Sky ran over and opened the door to see one of Deadlox's guards.

"Excuse me Sky, you forgot your uniform." He said as he gave it to Sky and left. Sky looked at the uniform. Shadow knew he was a guy. Yet something wasn't right. When Sky's mom walked over she saw the uniform.

"Beggers can't be choosers." She said as she walked away. Sky only nodded. Because this, this was a maid costume.
