I was awoken the next morning by someone pulling me up from the sofa "Lexi? Have you even left this couch because the bed is still the same as I left it and look at the state of this place!" I looked around at the mess of dirty cups, glasses and plates and then gazed over at Craig's frustrated looking face. Max came over and started picking things up and putting them in the dishwasher. Great Max is here I thought too myself "You seriously need to get off your backside and get a job if you think you're going to be living here! I need rent" I groaned and got up to go shower.
"I know a place that are looking to hire. There's a bar down the road looking for barmaids. I looked back to Craig who was nodding at me. "Fine I'll go down in a bit just let me get sorted" I locked myself in the bathroom and started to get myself clean. I guess it was going to go back to normal me and Craig hating each other, Max getting in the way. Why can't I just be back in school? With my old friends like Matt or Abigail.
When I got out of the shower I checked my ribs in the mirror they seemed to have heeled nicely. I put a skirt and Blouse on with a dickie bow around the collar before finding my Jerffery Cambells and handbag. Max and Craig were both sat watching the television "Right I'm going downtown now"
"K" Craig replied I groaned and exited the flat, as I went to lock the door it flung open
"I'll drive you, I need to go to the grocery store anyway"I smiled and walked fast to get as far in front as possible I really wasn't down for talking to Max after our awkward conversation in the hospital. "Where are you going, I said I'd drive you" I rolled my eyes and turned back around
"It's okay I can walk" Max started laughing
"You don't even know which bar I was talking about, I can put a good word in for you, I know the owner" I soon gave in and jumped in his dreaded car, we didn't speak for the whole journey and I could feel the tension between us. As we pulled up to the bar and I went to open the door to get out Max locked the car I stayed facing the window until I couldn't bare it anymore. I turned to Max and did something even I was shocked by. I leant into him and kissed him, I could feel him smiling into the kiss which made me smile to. The feel of his ice cold lip rings sent a shiver down my spine. As I pulled away I giggled "I love you Alexis" I stopped giggling and looked at him, he was deadly serious I took his hand. "Max" he hushed me
"Come on let's go get you this job and you can help me get some groceries" he unlocked the car door and we both walked out and into the bar. "Maxwell! What a suiprise to see you, who's this lovely lady" I blushed at the guys comment
"Hey Tom this is Alexis, she's looking for a job" the guy looked me up and down
"Well you came to the right place sweetcheeks" I smiled "There's no need to fill in an application form you've got the job" I laughed
"Are you sure, I mean it's no problem I can-"
"No, no, no if Max is recomending you then you've got it!" I smiled
"Well great, thanks, when do I start?" I asked feeling pretty proud of myself, seeing as this was my first proper job from working in my nan's shop. "Tomorrow morning get here for 10am to start training" training I thought to myself, I'm only collecting glasses right. I watched as Max and Tom shook hands.
We then went to the grocery store. I made Max push the trolley as I grabbed out loads of junk food. "Soooo you know this Tom guy how?" I asked as I placed a peperoni pizza into the trolley "Well he puts on gigs there every now and again and we played a few times"
"That's cool well thanks for getting me that job, at least now I'll have something to do" I noticed the trolley was over full so dragged Max over to the counter "Do we have enough money for this?" I asked as I started putting the items on the conveyabelt Max grabbed his credit card. "It's on you next time" he winked at me as he swiped his card on the reader. Max made me get into the trolley with the bags and he liturally darted it down to the exit and too his car I was in hysterics I couldn't stop laughing, maybe this is what I needed, someone to act stupid with and someone to cuddle.
When we arrived back at the flat Craig was looking through all of the bags frantically "Did you buy any actual food?" Craig asked putting his hands on his head as if to say we shouldn't have been allowed to do the shopping "What are you on about Craig, look ICE CREAM!" Max showed Craig the giant tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Craig just looked at him oddly and went over to his room slamming the door shut behind him. "Whoops" I said knowing that he was pissed off. I put the milk in the fridge and as I did I felt Max wrap his arms around my waist and pulling me into him. His cold lip rings were touching the side of my neck and I shivered letting a little moan escape from my lips. "Max not now" he groaned "Craig is only in the other room" he moved away from me and went over to Craig's room "Craig don't come in here okay?" Craig didn't even move his eyes off of the TV screen "Go away I'm playing xbox" Max shut the door and shrugged at me. I looked down at my hands and when I looked back up Max wasn't there "Max?" I questioned walking over to where he was standing by Craig's door. I looked to the left of me at the sofa "What the hell, Max stop playing around!" I turned around and Max was stood right in my face "MAX!" I shouted jumping he grabbed me and pushed me against the wall before he kissed me. I kissed him back and felt his hands wrapping round me holding my lower back. I put my hands on the back of his neck and pulled him closer. My stomach was doing cartwheels this must be love I thought to myself. Max lifted me up so my legs were wrapped tightly around his hip bones and carried me over to the sofa before sitting me on his lap. I began to kiss him again he hitched me around so that I was facing him, my hips conecting with his. I sweeped the hair out of his eyes and looked at him. He went to kiss me again but I stopped him by putting my hand over his mouth. He looked at me confused and I smiled "I think I'm in love with you Max" I felt him hitch underneath me and his smile grew wide. He didn't respond to what I had just said but kissed me instead. I laughed and he stopped "What?" he questioned. All of a sudden Craig's bedroom door flew open and he caught us in the act I jumped off of Max's lap and sat next to him instead. I coud feel Craig's eyes burning through the back of my head but the tension cooled when Max burst out laughing "Well at least you're not trying to kill each other" I turned around to Craig who grabbed the big tub of Ben & Jerry's from the freezer "Hope you weren't planning on eating this" I rolled my eyes. I got up and went over to turn on the television "So you meant what you said just then?" I went and sat back down
"What do you mean?"
"That you think you love me?" I nodded he looked to the television
"So you don't have any feelings for Ronnie anymore?" I froze at the question. Ronnie's name gave me that feeling in my stomach, it's not posible to love two people is it I thought to myself "Lexi?" I snapped out of my thoughts "Err no not at all that was just a silly crush me going against the rules" I laughed trying to disguise the look on my face. "You wanna order pizza?"
"There's one in the freezer we will just cook that" I smiled at him vaguley and went to turn on the oven.
When I'd cooked the pizza I called Craig in to come and eat with us but he refused saying he was off out with some friends. I sat down at the table an put the pizza inbetween us "Max I don't like people stairing at me when I'm eating" He smiled at me and looked down at his pizza
"Lex can I ask you something?" I looked at him "I really, really like you" I bit into my pizza and smiled "No wait, I love you" I swallowed and we just stared at each other for a while. My stomach was doing cartwheels again, "I-I love you too Maxwell" he smiled
"Good that makes me happy, Soooo I'm guessing we should date then?" I nodded
"Yeah that would be fun" I finished off my pizza and took my plate to the dishwasher. "I'd better get some sleep I gotta be up for my first day of work tomorrow" I walked over to Max and kissed him on the cheek before going into the spare room.
