Jeremy's POV
Me and Angelo are going on a second date.
And I'm planning it.
I'm no romantic. I don't know what is good for date material, I've never even had a boyfriend. I was way to nervous and Adam wasn't helping a bit.
"The worst thing that can happen is that he hates it and never goes out with you again," he said while flipping through a magazine laying on my bed.
"Don't." I said.
"What?" He asked as if he didn't know he was making my nerves worse.
Best friends are supposed to make you feel better. However Adam is his own person, and he isn't subtle. That's something that I always admired about him, he's not afraid to speak his mind. But in this situation he's getting on my nerves.
"What should I do?" I asked him.
"Do what you feel like you should do. Angelo to me doesn't seem like the fancy kind of guy. I would suggest something simple." He said and I frowned.
"What do you mean? You act like you met him." I said and he frowned.
"I did, yesterday at the law firm," he said it so nonchalantly.
"Why didn't you tell me before this?" I snapped at him.
"Umm, you didn't ask," he said and shrugged his shoulders.
"What did you talk about?" I asked him and sat down on my bed.
"Nothing important." He said and I nodded.
I pulled out my phone to call Angelo. He gave me his number yesterday at Lake Michigan. I felt like that was a step forward in the right direction. After our conversation yesterday, I realized that I over reacted. About everything.
"Did you come up with something?" Adam asked as I was about to press the dial number.
"I'm thinking picnic."
"Picnic? How Cliché." He said and rolled his eyes.
"You said simple." I said and he squinted his eyes.
"Yeah but not generic," he said and I just glared at him.
I don't know how else to get it through his head that I've never done this before. The only thing I knew about romance is from movies that apparently aren't accurate. I knew that you should die for each other, and sacrifice your love for your partner.
Okay, maybe that was a little to far.
"I'm thinking picnic at Foster Avenue Beach." I said and he nodded.
"That is supposed to be a very pretty date spot." Adam said and I nodded in agreement.
I dialed his number praying that he would pick up.
"Hello." I heard his sweet voice on the other end.
"Hi you said I had to choose what to do for our date. So I chose picnic at 6:00 tonight at Foster Avenue Beach." I said in one long tumble of words.
"Okay sounds great."
"I'll pick you up in a taxi." I said cringing all the way through that sentence as Adam stifled a laugh.
"Cool, sounds fun."
"Bye," I said and hung up as Adam burst out laughing.
I just glared at him until he was through. I didn't understand what was so hilarious. He finally stopped laughing like a maniac with tears rolling down his face.
