Chapter 12: Vampire Misconception

Maria and Rachel talked as they continued throughout the thick wood. They eventually got carried away with their talking. They came to a stop when they heard some rustling coming from the bushes. Thinking it was some small rodent-animal so they just ignored it. They did so until until a guy and a girl came out from the bushes.

They both seemed like they were in their mid-20s and were wearing clothes that were red and black that were also worn and dirty. The guy looked also as if he wasn't doing to well.

"My name is Cassidee and this is Ki. We are so lucky to come across you. Ki could really use your help. He has some sort of illness, and I think he might die if he doesn't get any medical attention." The girl stated in a desperate voice.

"Sure, I see what I can do for him. Tell me, when was this illness first apparent?" Maria asked as Rachel watched

"About 4 or 5 days. We've been in these woods for well over a week. We were camping and lost our way." Ki replied

"Oh, sorry to hear that." Maria replied as she examined him using the flashlight on her phone to aid her in seeing. "I doesn't look like you have any injuries, so you probably don't have an infection." Maria touch his forehead to check for a fever. "You don't appear to have a fever either. Do you have any allergies?"

"No." Ki responded.

"Granted I'm no doctor, but I can't seem to find anything wrong with you."

"Maybe we should just take him to a real doctor." Rachel advised

"You're probably right, follow me, I'll take you to hospital."

Maria began leading the way back to Tessera, Rachel, Ki and Cassidee closely followed. After a short while when they were almost to Tessera, Ki and Cassidee stopped.

"Actually, I don't think we'll be needing a hospital." Stated Cassidee "We do appreciate your insistence to help, but you've given us all the information we need to know."

Upon hearing this, Maria and Rachel stopped in their tracks and turned around.

"What do you mean information?" Maria asked

"That's not important. But what is, is that we get our payment." Ki said

"Payment? What payment?" Rachel asked completely confused.

Suddenly fangs emerged in Cassidee's and Ki's mouths, and their eyes began to glow.

"Your blood." Ki and Cassidee responded in perfect sync.

"Ladies first." Said Ki

Then Cassidee sped over to Rachel and bit her .Rachel screamed in pain when Cassidee's fangs pierced her flesh and she pinned her to the ground.

"Your next, blue hair." Ki sneered then he rushed toward her

Maria put her bow up horizontally to protect herself. But it didn't prove very useful, when Ki came over to Maria, he snapped her bow right in half. Maria then put her arms up in front of her to try to protect herself, but Ki just moved them out of the way.

"Keep your arms down." Ki commanded as he stared deep into her eyes.

"My arms, I can't move them." Maria thought

Just as Ki was about to bite Maria, he heard someone coming. "One of them is coming. We better get out of here. We can't afford to get caught." He said.

Cassidee then let go of Rachel, before she finished, and Rachel fell unconscious.

Ki then stared deep into Maria's eyes once more "If anyone asks, you tell them, it was wild animals who attacked you." then he ran off along with Cassidee. They continued going until they reached their destination, Vér Városa. They went through the city, and found who they were looking for.

"Your majesty, we have returned." Ki began

"Have you failed again? If so don't even bother me with this." The person responded in a shrewd manner

"No actually. We found what we were looking for about 7 ½ miles southwest of here." Replied Cassidee

"But there is one drawback, King Rico, we have to pass through enemy territory to get there." Stated Ki with concern.

"The only way that is an actual problem, is if you get caught. You didn't get found out did you?" Rico responded

"No, we didn't, but we were close." Cassidee replied in doubt.

"You almost got caught? If you had, that would've ruined everything! Seriously what are you good for? You two are practically useless. Ki, Cassidee, if you two mess up like this again, you'll both be reprimanded, and I'll look for someone else who actually get the job done." Rico scolded sternly

"Understood your majesty." Ki and Cassidee said simultaneously.

"Good." Rico then walked away to the palace in Vér Városa. When he got there he found his advisor, Aceur.

"King Rico, how are you doing tonight?" Aceur asked

"I'm doing just fine, and you?"

"I'm doing well your majesty."

"It looks if we're making progress. If all goes well, Vér Városa will finally get its revenge on Vladar Kri." Rico responded.

"I take that as good news, the scouts must've done well I presume."

"Despite almost getting caught, yes."

Meanwhile back in the woods, Russa and Tassu found Maria and Rachel in the woods.

"What happened to you here?" Russa asked

"Me and my friend were attacked by wild animals. They got her more than me." Maria replied with strain in her voice.

"She's unconscious." Tassu thought to himself. "Wild animals? Are you sure?" Tassu asked in disbelief.

"Yes, it was wild animals." Maria replied in confidence.

"If she says it was, then it was. She has no reason to lie Tassu." Russa responded

"I know, anyways Maria, you could probably use some rest." He said, then he put his hand on Maria's arm and she suddenly collapsed.

"Now she's unconscious too." Russa said.

"Would you mind helping me out Russa?"

"With what?"

"Well, we can't just leave them here. They may die if we do." Tassu suggested

"Sure, I'll help." Russa replied

Tassu picked up Maria and Russa picked up Rachel and they made their way back to Katera.
