Chapter 3: Arrest

"All is said and done, and I don't think I'll be returning, but it was nice of him to give me permission to." she thought to herself as she made her way through the woods on her way back home. When she arrived back at home she was exhausted from the walk to and from Katera. She headed straight to bed and had no trouble falling asleep.

The next morning Maria woke up and prepared to go to her job at Chillin' Coffee, where she worked as a waitress. When she arrived at the coffee shop she could smell the scent of freshly brewed coffee.

"I love the smell of coffee in the morning." Maria said as she smelled the enlightening fragrance. Maria loved working at the coffee shop, she usually found it relaxing and rarely stressful. Hours passed as Maria served one customer after the next. As noon rolled around, Maria finished serving her last table before she took her lunch break. Much to Maria's surprise, she ran into Jessie and Rachel while she was on her lunch break.

"Hey, Maria surprised to see you here." said Rachel

"Maria, are you done with my book?" Jessie asked

"Yes, it's at my apartment. How about you come by my place to pick it up after work. Say 5:30?"

"Sounds good." Jessie replied

"Since we're all together, how about we go get some lunch." suggested Rachel

"Sounds great, I'm starving." said Maria

After having lunch together, Maria headed back to work. She worked the rest of the day till 5 o'clock. She then left for home. At her apartment she began cooking dinner for herself. While the food was simmering on the stove she felt her phone buzz from inside her pocket. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and saw that she got a text from her friend Jessie. The text read "Sorry, I can't come over tonight. I have to work late. We'll have to plan for some other time."

Maria then responded with "Too bad. I'm sure we'll work something out. Does tomorrow night work?" Maria put her phone down and plated the food that was now done cooking. She sat down and ate her dinner that she had made. When it was about a quarter til 7, Maria got a response to her text to Jessie. The text read "I have to work late again tomorrow, but I can do Wednesday."

Maria replied "Okay Wednesday it is."

After texting her friend, Maria stayed up for a few more hours reading and watch some movies. Then she went to bed. When Wednesday night finally came around Maria received a text from someone on her way back home from work. But since she was driving, she decided not to look at her phone till she got home.

When Maria finally arrived at her apartment to see who had texted her. To no surprise it was her friend Jessie. She the read the text message "I'll be at your place at 6 pm to pick up my book." She replied with "Okay, see you then." Maria look at her phone to see what time it was, and it was a quarter til 6. She then entered her apartment and went to find her satchel to get the Myths and Legends book out of it.

When Maria finally found her satchel, she opened and was completely shocked to find that the book wasn't inside of it. "I thought I left the book in my satchel. If it's not here then where is it?" Maria thought to herself.She continued to search her apartment for the book with no luck. Maria asked herself "Okay, where did I see the book last." As she tried to remember, she started to have a flashback of three nights ago. "Of course. How could I have been so stupid?" Maria then exited her apartment and headed east towards the woods.

Completely unaware that Jessie had just arrived at the apartment complex, Maria kept going. 

Jessie noticed that Maria was running, but she was completely confused as to why. So Jessie decided to follow Maria into the woods, but did it discreetly so she wouldn't notice her.

As they went through the woods Jessie started to feel uneasy.

After quite a bit of time pasted Maria had finally reached her destination.

When Jessie saw the city she was amazed, but she was also curious as to what her friend was doing there. Jessie then went into the city and started searching for her friend.But it wasn't long before something else happened.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Hukai asked

Jessie was frightened by the unexpected unfamiliar voice"Well I.." she started to say before she was cut off.

"Do you have consent to be here?" Hukai questioned

"Consent? What?"

"I'll take that as a no. Then you shall be leaving." 

"Leaving? I'm not leaving. I have to.." before she could finish her sentence she was interrupted once more.

"You have to nothing." Hukai then grabs her right arm "Now then, I'll be escorting you out of here ."

"Let go of me!" Jessie jerked her arm out of Hukai's grasp "I'm not going anywhere with you." she then punched the guy. "You don't tell me what to do."

"What was that for?" Hukai asked "Alright no more mister nice guy."

Meanwhile Maria, with her plans to get the Myths and Legends book back, she went to find the prince. After some searching, she had found him. Seeing as he didn't appear to talking to anyone she interrupted his train of thought.

"Prince Adari, I need to talk to you."

"Oh Maria, you're back. Not that I didn't expect this." Prince Adari replied

"What?" Maria asked

"Nothing. You wanted talk about something."

"Yes, I need the book back. I believe I left here on accident."

"A book? What book? You're going to have to be more specific."

"The Myths and Legends book. The one I gave to you to source my claims I made when I came here."

"Hold that thought, I need to check something out." Prince Adari said as he began to walk away, and Maria followed him. They continued to walk until they came to the spot where Jessie and Hukai were.

Maria was a little surprised by what she saw.

"What is going on here?" Prince Adari questioned with a stern voice

While holding Jessie in an armlock Hukai answer Prince Adari's question "This girl is trespassing, so told her she had to leave and she refused. So I tried to escort her out of the city and she punched me for reason."

Prince Adari then turned to Tassu who was also there. "Tassu, is this true?"

"Yes, your majesty." Tassu responded in confidence.

"Okay then, lock her up, one weeks time. After that you shall have a trial that will decide your fate." Prince Adari declared

"Decide my fate? What's that supposed to mean?" Jessie asked

"Decide whether you leave this city..alive."
