Later on that night everyone in Katera had gathered together in front of the palace.
Adari stood in front of the crowd, then began to make an announcement "As some of you may have already heard, 2 scouts from Vér Városa were spotted in our territory earlier on in the night. It also fact that they were not captured, but that they unfortunately managed to get away. As of right now, we don't currently know what their objective is, however high chances are that they will return in the near future and not alone. With this it is obligatory that we be prepared for whatever may be coming our way in the near future. That will be all for now."
With that being said, everyone departed. Then Maria went up to Adari to talk to him. "What are you going to do now?"
"I am going to start preparations for what is to come." He responded
"How are you supposed to prepare correctly, if you don't know what it is your preparing for? What I mean is, if you prepared for one sort of attack, you could wind up being completely unprepared for what it is they plan to strike with."
"I guess we're going to have to take that chance."
"Also how do know they're coming here? When I was with them, they didn't really seem interested in Katera at all. Though, I could be wrong. Now that I think about it, when we came across them, they seemingly were trying to decieve in to leading them somewhere or to something. But whatever it was, it wasn't Katera. While we walking, they simultaneously stopped and said that I gave them all the information they needed. But the thing was, I didn't tell them anything." Maria responded
"Maybe it was where you were going, is what they wanted to know. Perhaps a location of something that you knew that they didn't. Maybe that was the 'information' they were after." Adari replied
"But we were still in the woods."
"Then perhaps you were close enough for them to sense what they were looking for."
"I suppose."
"So what or where were you close to?"
"My home city, Tessera. We were about a quarter mile away for when they said that. But what could they want with it? I can't really imagine anything of value in that city that vampires could be after."
"Hm, I don't know. But I suppose we'll know soon enough."
"After all, it's just pure speculation. I guess we'll have to wait and find out. Anyway, I should be heading home now and.."
Adari interrupted her "Not by yourself your not. Some of those vampires could still be lurking about in the woods. If they were to get ahold of you they would not hesitate to kill you. I'm not going to let you put yourself in a position that would potentially put your life on the line. If want to go back, I can take you, or you can wait till after sunrise. What will it be?"
"I would like to get back as soon as possible. I have to work tomorrow, and I can't be late."
"I shall take you then."
Adari then walked with Maria through the woods, he also kept a sharp eye out for any potential danger that could come her way.
Soon enough, Maria was home, and fortunately with no merciless invaders to intervene. "Thank you for walking me home Adari."
"The pleasure is mine." he responded cheerfully. As Maria headed inside Adari grabbed her arm. "Wait just one second." he said sternly with a serious look on his face. "Before I go, I need to make something clear. I don't want you coming to Katera alone anymore. You will not go into those woods alone at night again. No exceptions, it's far too dangerous."
"But, then I won't be able to see you." Maria responded
"That's not entirely true. I can come here when I have the time. I just don't want you doing it because you're vulnerable against them, and I don't want you to get hurt or killed. When you were attacked that vampire snapped your bow in half with little effort. Next time, that could be your neck. I don't want there to be a next time, so heed my words and stay safe." Adari said then he yanked on her arm and pulled her in for a kiss.
"I will." Maria responded
The next day, Maria went through her normal daily routine, after she finished work, she went home and sat down and turned on the TV. When TV turned on the news channel was on and they were talking about a vampire attack.
"They must still be relaying what happened a few days past. Why not talk about something else?"
Maria started flipping through channels to find something to watch. After looking through a number of channels she came to the conclusion that there was nothing on worth watching and decide to watch a movie instead. She walked over to her movie shelf and grabbed the movie Corpse Bride and popped it into her DVD player, sat down on the couch and began watching.
All the while, in Vér Városa, Rico was having a conversation with his advisor.
"Tell me Aceur, how is everything going?" Rico asked
"I'm please to report, everything is going according to plan. Our new feeding ground has proven to be worthy of such. The humans don't stand a chance." Aceur responded
"Finally, something worth hearing. Has Katera interfered at all? Is there any signs showing that they may know what we were up to?"
"As of right now your majesty, they show no signs of knowing."
"Good, try to keep it that way."
"Your majesty, on my way over to the human city I saw something that may be of your interest."
"Oh, really? Please, do tell me more."
Back in Tessera, Maria had finished watching the Corpse Bride and got up off the couch and went to bed.
