Drake sighed and looked at Rachel with a depressed expression. "Maria, she's in the hospital. She was rushed to the ER hours ago. When we went to see her, the doctor said she wasn't going to make it through the night."
Rachel was shocked at the sound of Drakes words "What?! What happened? Did she fall down a flight of stairs?"
"If she had fallen down a flight of stairs, I doubt she'd be on the brink of death." Responded Sumaki
"No, she didn't fall down a flight of stairs." Andi replied
"Then what?" Rachel asked with eyes beginning to tear up.
"Witnesses say she was ganged up on by a trio of vampires in the parking lot outside her work." Drake responded
"Though it's not surprising, as you know, people have been falling victim to vampire attacks all week. Maria was one of the lucky few who made it through the attack." Andi retorted despairingly
"Anyway, you should probably go now if you want to see her before her time runs out." Drake suggested
"You're right." Rachel responded
Drake and Andi then left them and walked away.
"Can we go see Maria in the hospital?" Rachel pleaded
"Of course we can?" Adari responded "You'll have to lead the way since none of us know how to get there."
"Thank you." Rachel replied
The four then went on there way to the hospital.
"This is one of the reasons I'm glad I'm not human." Sumaki commented
"What I'm wondering is why she chose not to say anything. I mean if vampires are massacring your city, and you know of someone or something that may stop it, what use is it to keep your mouth shut?" Yumai retorted
"You have a point Yumai. Maria knows she can trust us, so why didn't she say anything?" Adari asked rhetorically
"How long have you know Maria?" Rachel asked
"Roughly six weeks." Adari responded
Soon enough the small group arrived at the hospital.They went to the front desk to ask to visit Maria.
"How may I help you tonight?" The lady at the desk asked kindly
"We're here to see Maria Santeogo." Rachel replied anxiously
"She's on the 4th floor room 4162."
"Thank you."
The group went to the elevator and headed up to the fourth floor and quickly found the room they were looking for. When they entered they saw that Maria was unconscious while laying in the hospital bed. They heard the monitor beeping steadily.
"She is in pretty rough shape." Rachel said
"Hey look at this." Sumaki said drawing the others' attention as he picked up the piece of paper "It looks like it's a report."
Adari took the paper from Sumaki and began reading it aloud "Female patient Maria Santeogo was obtained attack after an attack at 6:03 pm. Externally, she was found with numerous injuries all over her body. Upon further inspection at 7:24 pm she was discovered to have 127 broken bones, 34 fractures, a ruptured spinal cord, and puncture wounds on her liver, kidneys and lungs." Adari stops reading the doctor's report "I'm surprised she's still alive." He said in a depressed tone as he started to cry.
Rachel began to cry "I think we should go now, the longer we stay the harder it'll be."
"You three go ahead need a moment to think." Said Adari
