"Thanks again for driving me."
Armin glanced over at me from the driver's seat, offering a small smile. "Of course. That's what we'd planned when you first got offered the interview - though, I do admit that I ended up thinking Jean would be taking you."
I shrugged. "I don't think he really wants to be that far away from home right now."
"Well, I'm happy to be taking you," he smiled, making me realise that we really hadn't spent too much time just hanging out alone together recently. It was a shame that the time we were spending together now was going to consist of me freaking out for the interview.
It at least didn't take too long to get there - maybe a couple of hours or so. I always knew that I wanted to get away from where I grew up but, to be honest, I still wanted to be no more than a simple bus ride or train journey away. Especially now, with Jean possibly staying around to be close to his mum, I didn't want to stray too far away.
"Where is it we need to go, again?"
I looked over at Armin, who seemed to be struggling to find a parking spot. There were more people around than I had expected.
"If we get out around here then it should only be a five-minute walk over there," I answered, nodding in the general direction of the main university building. The students in the area all seemed to refer to it as 'the Hogwarts building', with its traditional exterior vaguely mimicking the well-known structure. It wasn't even too grand or anything, with it most likely just being the contrast with the more modern buildings in the area that made it stick out.
Once we had finally found a place to park, we made our way over to the building together. After signing in, we were taken on a tour of the university grounds, similarly to how an open day would go. After about an hour or so, we finally reached the area that we needed to wait in for before our interviews would take place.
Armin sat with me whilst I waited. Instead of freaking out about the actual interview, I spent my time checking my phone over and over to make sure it was on silent mode. Eventually, I just handed it over to Armin, not wanting to risk anything. There was nothing that would freak me out more than my phone blasting a ringtone halfway through the interview I had been waiting months for.
"Eren Yaeger?"
I looked up at the man who had called my name, taking a deep breath before standing up.
Armin gave my hand a gentle squeeze. "You've got this. I'll see you back at the car once you're done, okay?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Got it."

As soon as I was finished with my interview, I left the building to go find Armin I smiled a little when I saw the little blond bob peaking out from behind his car, a little relieved that he was actually there. Though, of course, it was Armin, so I never really had anything to worry about.
"Well, that didn't go too awfully," I said, a small smile showing on my face as I approached him.
He only looked up when he heard me speaking, too busy staring at his phone to had noticed me walking over. His lips were formed into a slight smile, accompanied with a twitch in his brows that I knew meant he was worried about something.
"Are you alright?"
"I think we need to go home now," he replied, handing over my phone before getting in the driver's side of the car.
My brows pulled together as I watched him, feeling both confused and worried at the same time. I followed him into the car, making sure to fasten my seatbelt before starting to question him again.
