Chapter 17: A Message In Time

[A/N: So this chapter will be a flashback well not really a flashback but this shows how Rie is doing while she is unconscious. She'll be teleported to another place. Well that's the summary so if it gets messy and confusing, you'll know what's going on]

Rie P.O.V

'Huh, Where am I?'

'In Rinne's memories'

'Who are you!?'

'I'm you but I'm just older'

'How is this possible?'

'We can communicate when you're unconscious. And I came here to let you see something'

She then appeared infront of me, her hair was long and she tied it in a ponytail. Her dress was black and she wore the lockette Ayato gave me.

'There's no doubt, you are me'

'Now let's go to a part of Rinne's memory of Reine'

'Reine?'

'Seriously! You got her diary but you don't know?'

'You can say that again'

'Quickly! We must go now'

She was hurrying like there was something chasing her. So, I just did as she said.

We opened a door abd we saw Rinne who was my mom with a younger me.

"You see Rie, you look a lot like Reine"

"Who's Reine?"

"Our Ancestor" Mom paused and young Rie faced her.

"Tell me the story, Mommy"

"Okay"

-Rinne starts telling the story-

Reine was standing on the mansion's porch as she stared at the sunset. Oh how Reine love sunsets.

"I wish I can make such a beautiful sunset like that" She sighed after.

She then heard a voice.

"Oh Princess Reine! I, Vincent Michaelis, ask for your hand in marriage"

"I do not ask for marriage"

She said that but you see, they actually got married. But their happy days were at it's limit when the wife of the demon king set her eyes on Vincent.

"Hello Vincent" Said the purple haired lady.

"Um who are you?"

"My name is Leila, The Wife of the Demon King"

"What is your purpose here"

"I want you and since you are a demon too, we match perfectly!"

"You are married and so am I, so please leave immediately" Vincent ended it with a killing intent aura surrounding him.

"Huh?! Let me show me my love to you then!"

"What?"

"If I can't have you then nobody does!"

The two came into a bloody combat. Leila would try to stab him at the heart with her bowie knife but she decided to cut off Vincent's limbs off first. Vincent became weak since he was facing the Demon Queen. He couldn't stand a chance after all. In the end, Leila took his heart out, still beating but Vincent was already dead.

Reine saw this in a corner as she cried at her loss. She was heard by Leila and she knew she was done for.

"Oh! Such a splendid show, wasn't it?" Leila asked loudly.

"First I take out his eyeballs then cut off his limbs then take out his heart and eat it" Leila finished with a hysterical laugh.

"That's too much"

"Huh? I was just showing my love to him"

"Are you sick?! He's already killed!!!"

"Oh my! Are you his wife?"

"What if I said yes?" Reine put out a short period of silence but was vroken by Leila's laughter.

"Splendid, just wonderful! He wasted his time on such a lady, wait, you're just a piece of rubbish!"

Reine was gritting her teeth at her opponent's remarks. She could take remarks on her but remarks on her loved one was the last straw.

Reine and Leila fought for 5 days straight. Their strength was too matched out but then, Leila out witted her at a time. Leila was victorious and then she left Reine laying down on the ground in her own blood.

Reine was weak but she carried out one final message.

"On the day of my death, after 1000 years. My soul shall be reincarnated into a new body and into a new era. My reincarnated soul shall dwell inside the body of the girl in the prophecy. Until then, I shall be nothing but a memory"

After her last words, she left a child untouched in her room. And thus started the whole lineage of Exceeds.

-Rinne ends the story-

"So mommy?"

"Yes?"

"When was I born?"

"On Reine's 1000th Death Anniversary"

"That means! Am I Reine's successor?"

"Maybe if you grew up, your features and hers will be completely observed and then we'll know if you're her successor"

"Hmph!"

"But if you have the same characteristics as her in skills then why not?"

"I'll show you mommy! I'll be like Reine!"

Then my older form tapped my shoulder as I saw her fading.

'We have to go now Rie'

'Okay'

We went back and she left me with a paper. After that, I awoke to the scent of tea.

"Agh..."Was all I manage to let out.

"Guys! Rie's awake" I heard Yui's voice.

My vision was still blurry but I suppose everyone was surrounding me.

"How long was I out?" I ask them.

"A month" Shu said lazily.

"You were about to die a few minutes ago" Yui said.

"Your pulse was slowly fading" She continued.

"I remember everything now" I said and everyone looked confused.

"You said there was an awakening, Right Reiji?" I ask him.

"Yeah" he replied.

I know what to do now. I have to kill Cordelia on that day to finally end my mission.
