A gust of wind blew my hair wildly around my face as I walked down the busy sidewalk. I attempted to wrangle my hair into one hand to hold it in place, hoping that my hair wouldn't look like a complete mess by the time I got to the building for my first official day at my new job.
As soon as the wind died down, I quickly released my hair and began doubling my steps in hope that I could reach my work building soon before the next gust of wind came to ruin my hair.
So far, my morning commute wasn't a complete disaster. I got a little lost on the subway but thankfully I left an hour early in case of such situations.
My feet planted into the concrete as I stopped in front of a large building. As I looked up, I couldn't help but think that the building in front of me could reach the clouds above that hanged lazily in the sky. The building had endless, large glass windows that covered the outside of the building, making it almost looked as if the whole thing was made out of the glass.
Holding up the small piece of paper that I had carried in my hand all morning, I checked the address that was scribbled on it and confirmed that it was the correct building I was searching for.
"Ok," I sighed loudly as many strangers passed by me on the busy street, "I'm finally here,"
My phone buzzed loudly against the fabric of my dress pants breaking my thoughts away from the building altogether. I swiftly retrieved the device from my pocket as my eyes landed on a single text message from Leo.
Just wanted to wish you good luck on your first day again! You looked great! We'll have to go out and celebrate your official first day at work!
P.S. You forgot your lunch, but don't let that get you down. Just stay positive!!
xoxo Matt & Leo
"Dammit!" I harshly whispered to myself as I looked down at my phone. I was so worried about getting here on time I completely forgot to grab my lunch box on the way out, so much for having a smooth first day.
Looking back at the text message I couldn't help but smile though.
It was only two days ago when they took me out to Social Jungle to celebrate getting this job and I don't remember a thing from that night. Matt teased me the next morning about how fun I was up until I blew chunks everywhere. I felt my cheeks redden slightly from the idea of me doing such a thing around people and I couldn't help but feel grateful for the missing memory of that night.
My chest filled with love though as I continued to stare at the text. I don't know what I would do without those two. They woke up early with me this morning to help me pick out my outfit and even tried to help map out the fastest way to work. I wish I could show them more how grateful I was for everything that they have done for me...
Dragging my eyes away from my phone, I looked back to the building's large revolving glass door that was feeding businessmen and women in and out of the building.
Nervousness began to set in as I stood there looking at the glass building. I couldn't help as the sudden thoughts of doubt began to assault my mind. I tried to will them away, I even tried to demand my feet to move but they wouldn't obey me.
Before panic truly began to sink its claws into me, the sound of someone saying my name broke me from my trance.
Turning my head to the side toward the source of the sound, Katie came jogging into view smiling widely as she waved at me.
