In Love With My Best Friend

Lorena's POV

The whole week went by smoothly and I actually felt stress-free. As I was walking down the hallway getting ready to see my friends at lunch, I accidently ran into Samantha. 

"Can you watch where you're going?!" She yelled.

"First of all, no need to yell. Second of all, it was by an accident. Calm down." I replied monotone.

She rolled her eyes.

"You obviously did that on purpose because you don't like me. Is it because of Gray? I'm really sorry he doesn't want you. It's really funny actually, you've known him longer and could've had him way before me. Too bad he thinks I'm better than you. Can you blame him though?" She said laughing, while flipping her hair.

"Actually I don't want Grayson and I never said I didn't like you. If anything, it's you who dislikes me because you know I'm way more important than you. You also know, he would choose me instantly. Now thinking about it, I was a little iffy about you but I've made up my mind. I don't like you. Now have a nice day Samantha." I replied moving past her.

When I arrived at lunch, I sat with E, Gray, and Lily and began eating my sandwich.

"Hey Girlie." Lily said hugging me.

"Hey cutie." I replied giggling.

I decided not to bring Samantha up because I knew that would ruin the whole mood and Gray would start asking questions. She then came over to our table.

"Gray, baby." She whimpered looking at Gray.

"Yea." He replied, immediately standing up.

"Do you love me? Because I love you, ya know? I-I want you to meet my parents." She said "worried" what gray would respond with. 

"Samantha. We've only been officially together for a month. I care about you but I have to think about it. I won't lie to you and say I love you when I'm not even sure myself." He replied softly, caressing her cheek.

As I was watching this "love scene" I realized how good of a boyfriend Gray is. He's such a good person. He's never hurt a girl that he's dated. They always hurt him. He was so gentle with his words, making any girl fall for him.

"So you don't l-love me?" She asked pouting.

"Baby, let's talk about this another day, alone okay?" He replied pecking her lips.

"I'm tired of everything you've been doing." She whined.

"What'd I do now Sam." He replied, huffing. 

"You're always with E or these two irrelevant girls. It's never me." She said starting an argument. 

"First off, Ethan's my twin brother. We live together. Second, Lily and Lorena are my best friends. They deserve attention too." He snapped.

"No-." She got cut off by Gray.

"I give you attention all the time. Do you know how many times I stopped hanging with Ethan just to go and see you. Do you know how many arguments I've had with Lorena because I stopped giving her attention for you?!" He replied angry.

I was honestly shocked when I saw Grayson yell at Samantha. Yea, I've seen him angry before, but never like this. I honestly think he was getting fed up with her bullshit. I then noticed everybody staring and decided to calm Grayson down.

"Gray, calm down. Just breathe." I said looking at him with sad eyes while grabbing his arm.

He looked down at me and his eyes softened. He nodded his head and sat back down.

Samantha looked at me and rolled her eyes. She then walked away clearly intimidated by Grayson's outburst. 

The rest of lunch, Grayson was quiet. Not one word was said. When he finished his sandwich, he got up and left. I then took it upon myself to follow him, just to make sure he was fine. 

I caught up to him and grabbed his arm. He turned to look at me. In that moment, I realized that Gray was stressed. He was lost. He didn't know what to do.

I hugged him. He needed comfort. He didn't fight. He hugged back and whispered a sorry in my ear.

"Don't be sorry. I know it's hard balancing a girlfriend and a best friend. Don't feel stuck Gray. If you need some time alone with her, go ahead. I'll be right here when you come back." I said smiling weakly.

"No Lorena, she always has my attention. I want to spend time with you." He stated in a serious tone. 

"I know Gray. As much as this hurts to say, I know your happy with her. Just go. Don't lose her." I said sadly, trying to hide it.

"Am I happy? Lorena I have something to tell you." He said sighing.

I looked up at him signaling for him to continue. 

"I-" Ethan cut him off.

"Gray? You okay bro?" He asked.

I mentally groaned. I wanted to know what Gray had to tell me.

"I'm fine, thanks to Lorena." Gray said smiling at me.

I smiled back, hoping he would tell me later what he had been thinking.

"There's a party tonight. It is Friday, sooo everyone will be there. We have to go." Lily said to the three of us listening to her. 

"No, no. How about we all go to my house. Movie night." Ethan said, pecking Lily on the lips.

"Fine, but only if I get to choose the movie." She replied smirking.

He nodded and hugged her from behind waiting for Gray and I's response. I nodded my head and turned to see what Gray had said.

"I think I'm gonna go see Samantha. I want to make sure she's fine ya know?" He asked looking at the three of us.

"We understand Gray, go ahead. We'll be at home waiting if anything. The girls are gonna stay over anyway. You know how they are." He laughed.

Lily joined in laughing. I didn't laugh, instead I smiled and started fiddling with my fingers. I was hoping Gray would've stayed. I understood though. I mean, I did tell him to be with her so I can't be upset and I knew that. He then hugged all of us and said that he would see us soon. We soon headed to the twins' house, ready to have a good time.
