Chapter 31

AIRAB

"The court is adjourned for the day!"

I pass a mocking smirk to the Wahab Butt, a murderer, as the judge announces him Penal Servitude of seven years.

I wish I could capture his helplessness and example it to whole world about messing with fetuses.

The third and final hearing has come to conclusion, strengthening my belief on Allah's justice. My kids were innocent and departed because someone could not take in the denial from the desired lady. Elza's diet and health were going perfect. The fetuses could have been born healthier if it weren't for the miscarriage – attempted murder. Lucky is me, that at least, my wife survived. Otherwise, mostly fail against the ugly pain.

I embrace Baba as the justice relief wash over me.

Do you think I care about how severely he gets punished? My twins are dead.

Elza's argument of this morning accelerate my fatherly sentiments. Yes, they won't be coming back but at least, many other babies would be saved from such psyche-attacks.

As the judge rises from his prized place, everyone buzzes out including me, baba and our lawyer.

"Thank you, Mr. Shahid Ahmed." Baba pays gratitude to the lawyer for strenuously fighting the lunatic opponent.

Before I could hand over the already signed check to Mr. Shahid from my coat's inner pocket, Baba smacks the chance.

"Your reward."

He must have written higher amount. So Generous!

Offering the payment, we descend the stairs of high court, ignoring the flashes as well as hollow warnings of Wahab to appeal Supreme Court. I wear my goggles and the security manages to keep the path safe till we haul away in Mercedes.

The paparazzi, I tell you, are pain in ass. My children are murdered and they want my views. Why don't they wait for their turn?

"Thankfully, it's done." Baba initiates the conversation while typing a message. I hmm, not wanting to converse as I picture my wife's current volatile mind frame. She needs a psychiatrist. I have browsed a few, will do a detailed research and then take her to the best one. My heart brutally squeezes at the perished sight of her.

As we enter Baba's study at home, he lowly shares his dream. "I suspect Biyah!" His face has lost the charm of justice for his grandchildren.

"Impossible!" I immediately dismiss the idea. "She and Elza are more of best friends." I add, despising the mere assumption.

"My bad. I had planned to not discuss this hollow dream of last evening but skipped my mind. Maybe, I am thinking too much." The dreams are indicatory only if they are before Fajar.

"Yeah! She can never be the culprit." I articulate aloud, clarifying it more to myself. Biyah is giving 24/7 duty towards Elza, why would she cause damage and then take care of her? Moreover, she shared a strong bond with my children. We are unable to grasp the doer and thus such baseless doubts are no surprise. For once, I considered Aunty Mehreen responsible of this mess. But, guess, she is off limits. Though she believes in such stuff but never would she risk her daughter's life, would she? She could make her drink some herb for a smooth abortion. There was no need to spend freaking amount on intense black magic, was it?

Hey, but the report would have informed us if miscarriage had been caused by the pills or herbs. Plus, she has developed a cold hatred for my family. She can be the one, can't she?
