(ellixin's Point of View)

I'm gonna be honest here, his 'new direction' as a soloist sucks in my opinion. I'm not gonna say, "oh, yeah, I respect his new direction with Brit pop techno stuff, but I miss MCR." No you don't, you miss MCR and wish they'd pull a Fall Out Boy quicker than we're hoping (six years is like a Sherlock hiatus). It's not that I just really, really miss being able to watch either that Snowflake video without dying of laughter and dying of sadness at the same time or being scared yet comforted whilst looking at his heavily maked-up screaming face in 'I'm Not Okay', I just don't like his new music in general.

His gorgeous voice is so drowned out, whatever happened to 'Sing'? "You've got to make a choice / If the music drowns you out / And use your voice / Every single time they try and shut your mouth". Make the choice to turn down the instruments or electronics or whatever and USE YOUR VOICE. He's not gonna read this...he should use his voice. Sorry, had to fix who I'm addressing. I'm getting into this.

I do like his new theme of outerspace and aliens and everything, but the music aspect is astonishing. In a bad way. And the story behind why he chose this theme for his whole Brit pop thing is absolute rubbish. "I felt like such an alien in MCR." If Gerard felt so hesitant and like an alien, as he told Rolling Stone, he wouldn't have stuck with MCR for TWELVE YEARS.

A few people say he's been having a bit of a mid-life crisis. Some say he's just being in denial, pretending he didn't like the band to make himself believe that himself. Anyway, there's heaps of theories. Maybe we're just trying to make ourselves feel better. But out of all of this, Gerard's new style, the death of the Fabulous Killjoys, I can only say I like the fact that we can say, "Wow, he really is scared of teenagers if he killed the band before it could become thirteen."

EDIT:

I have been listening to the music a bit more, tried to get used to the 'new' Gerard, and I'll admit that after listening a bit and knowing the lyrics, the songs start to sound bearable. I'm actually gradually liking this whole Brit Pop thing now. Still, I miss MCR.
