"Oh my actual fuck," Jasmine whispered, staring at the pup. "Anthony...you didn't..."
"I did." Anthony grinned. "Sorry."
"But...why?!"
"Because we needed a dog in our lives," He said, picking up the dog. "What should we call her?"
"She has to go back to where you got her!"
"That's a weird name for a dog."
"Anthony..." Jasmine warned.
"PLEASE, can we keep her mo- I mean, Jasmine?"
"No, Anthony! We can't keep her! We're both working people- we don't have time for a dog!"
"I'm breaking up with you then."
"WHAT?!"
"Yeah, and I'm taking the dog." He said, walking off and going off into the bedroom.
"Anthony..." Jasmine sighed and followed him.
She walked into the bedroom to see Anthony packing a suitcase. He put the dog in first, then a shirt on top of the dog, who just sat there.
"Anthony, stop this." Jasmine walked up to him. "Also do not pack the dog...and don't put a shirt over her, she won't be able to breathe."
"It's so the people at the customs won't be able to detect her, of course!"
"Oh my God," Jasmine ran a hand through her hair. "Anthony, that's not how- you know what, nevermind. Just...don't do this, please."
"I've wanted a dog for so long, though, Jasmine...ever since I was just a kid...the apartment we lived in wouldn't allow pets...we tried hiding a hamster...her name was Gumball." He smiled a bit. "But...the landlord found her and..." Anthony looked down. "...Killed her."
Jasmine stared at him. "That's horrible..."
"Yeah, no fucking shit." He muttered. "I've always wanted something to love...a little fluffy thing..."
"Well, what about me?!"
"You aren't an animal, Jas,"
Jasmine raised her eyebrows and folded her arms. "Whatever. Look, Anthony, as much as I want to, we can't keep her! We're both busy people with jobs!"
"Then I'm breaking up with you." Anthony said and closed the lid of his suitcase. The dog barked inside of it. "...okay, maybe this is not a good idea." He opened the suitcase and quickly lifted the dog out, then rezipped it up with the dog under his arm.
"Goodbye, Jasmine." He said. Anthony then walked out of the room, the dog under his arm and pulling the suitcase along.
Jasmine waited for a couple of minutes for him to come back, but he didn't. She frowned and walked out as well. "Anthony?"
No response.
She looked out the window and saw him walking across the road with the poor dog still under his arm.
"Oh, that idiot." She whispered and sighed. Jasmine grabbed her keys and unlocked the door, then ran out of the apartment.
She ran down all the flights of stairs, heart hammering in her ears. "Anthony, Anthony, Anthony," She kept mumbling. Jasmine finally got to the ground floor. She flung the door open and ran out into the night. "ANTHONY!" She yelled.
Anthony was halfway down the road.
"Fuck!" She cried and ran across the road, then just ran after him.
"ANTHONY!" She shouted. "A-ANTHONY...!"
He obviously heard her but didn't turn around.
"ANTHONY!" Jasmine screamed one more time. She just kept running. It didn't take long for her to catch up to him. "Antho- wOAH!" She tripped over her untied shoelace and collided into the back of him.
All three of them, the dog included, went flying through the air and landed with a thump on the hard ground.
Anthony groaned. "Jasmine, what the fuck?" He asked, pissed.
"Please don't leave me." She whispered. "I-I'm sorry...we can keep the dog...we can do whatever you want...but please don't leave me...I need you." Jasmine burst into tears.
"...Oh, Jasmine." Anthony sighed. "I'm sorry, babe. I'm overreacting."
"No...you aren't...I was being way too uptight." She looked at the dog, who was licking her paws. "Of course we can keep her..." Jasmine gently picked her up. "What should we call her?"
"Jasmine Junior?" Anthony offered with a grin.
Jasmine laughed really hard. "That's sweet but...it doesn't really speak to me."
"I'm sure we'll think of something," Anthony replied softly. "Anyway...let's go home."
