Joseph Mazello is a man who lives in a small town(Population- 4,000). Over the past few years his life has been tough and crazy but despite the odds, he finds the good in every circumstance. The story begins on a Friday.
JOE'S POV
I open my eyes to the blinding bright sun peaking through my windows, and automatically squint. I turn over to look at the clock besides my bed. It read "8:34 a.m." I have to be at work at 9:30, so I turn over and begin to get out of my bed. I would love to be an actor eventually, but to this day have not gotten my big break. Instead, I work as an artist for 20th Century Fox. I help create many sets for many movies. I love my job, but silently long to be he star of a movie or TV show that stands in front of the colorful set that I currently make.
Once I am up I pick out my outfit. I took out a stiff pain of light blue jeans, a tight white T-shirt, and a dark brown belt. I took a short but scorching hot shower. I put my clothes on and sprint downstairs and into the kitchen. I grab a package of rice cakes and my phone and head straight for the door.
When I open the door of my houses and clothes the door I am greeted by the scent of freshly cut grass. I step on my porch and begin walking to the studio. My car broke down last month, and is still in the shop. To be honest, I don't really mind walking, because one it is great exercise, and two I love the beauty of my town. I live in the small town of Ely, Nevada. I was born he and have never left. I know practically everyone, and love the small town life. The highlights of my summers are barbecues and pool parties. In winter I make snowmen and hot cocoa with my niece and her best friends. I love my niece with all my heart.
My niece is in second grade and she is the light of my life. Her name is Lily. When she was born, her father left her mother Sarah. Two years ago Sarah pasted away from ovarian cancer. She was my little sister and my best friend. We were orphans, and were never adopted. We looked out for each other and were very close. When her daughter was orphaned I was asked if I wanted to adopt her. I did not want the orphan life for her, but it was still a hard decision. My girlfriend said she would leave me if I adopted Lily, and I knew it would not be easy to be the caretaker of a young child. Despite these conditions, I adopted her.
I am single and have a job, but some of the moms of Lily's friends help me with the carpool situation. On Sunday and Monday nights, Veronica and Lauren sleep over and I drive and pick them up from school. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, the girls sleep at the twins house. Their mom drives and picks up the girls from school. I am so thankful that Maria, the twin's mom, is so kind and helpful.
We are not poor but live in a modest house. I work long hours to make ends meet but it is worth it because Lily brings a smile to my face each day.
I arrive at work, and realize that I have to work with the most annoying, disrespectful, and arrogant actor ever, Benjamin Hardy. Despite the how much I hated working with him, I knew I had to. I had to do it for Lily. I had an awfully bad feeling that today would be a LONG day. Ugh here we go.
