I walk in with Dorian just in time to hear that Lady Evangeline is missing. I see everyone's reactions, all shocking. Aelin blanches, Rowan stiffens, Fenrys curses under his breath, Lorcan blinks in surprise, and Dorian's jaw drops open. Aelin is the first to regain herself, ever the queen.

"Have Lysandra and Aedion been informed?"

"No my lady. It was considered, but they are out at sea my lady," the messenger says. Aelin nods, thoughtful.

"Don't bother to send word until we know their location," Aelin says with a wave of her hand. The messenger nods.

"Would you like to send word back to Lord Darrow?" the messenger asks.

"Tell him that if any harm is to come upon Evangeline while she is missing I will personally burn the few hairs that remain on his head before I gut him and leave him alive for Lysandra to kill."

The messenger blanches before squeaking out," my queen Lord Darrow currently has every man he can spare to look for her."

Aelin nods. "Good." Then she waves her hand and the messenger scurries off to deliver her message.

That's when I step forward.

"Do you mind if I ask who this Lady Evangeline is?" I say, hoping for an answer.

"Evangeline is an eleven year old girl who didn't ever really have the chance to be a child because of the environment and time she lives in," Aelin answers.

"She's basically the sweetest girl you'll ever meet," Rowan adds.

"I let her braid my hair once," Fenrys says from out of the blue. Everyone turns to look at him and he shrugs. "She asked and I didn't have it in me to say no."

"So Evangeline is very important to you all?" I ask.

"Very," Aelin replies.

"Then I won't keep you from finding her. I know how it feels to lose someone or be separated. Plus unlike me she is an important member or your kingdom, therefore your first priority," I say, sadness creeping into my voice, knowing I will have to wait even longer before I am reunited with my family.

"Thank you for understanding," Aelin responds, before marching out of the room.

I stare at the palace, dark and homely in the night before looking out into the forest where Nesta disappeared into. I can't go home without her, the guilt would plague me for the rest of my immortality. I left a note in my room, telling Aelin and her court that I was taking matters into my own hands. I wasn't my business to get into theirs and although they offered to help me they were busy searching for a lost eleven year old girl.

I gaze out at the forest before letting my wings appear, growing and shifting into the wings I'm used to. I jump into the air and soar through the unfamiliar night sky, ready to search for Nesta in the forest.
