Preparing for the portal for the next couple of days surely was interesting. Azriel had found a spot just outside of Velaris to put the portal and we spent those days clearing the area of fae that happened by.
On top of that, we watched Tamlin and Evangeline. Evangeline spent lots of time following Elain, while Tamlin reluctantly followed Evangeline, having nothing else to do. They didn't do much, besides having fun in Elain's garden. I would check up on them every few hours to make sure Kai was okay. Poor kid had allergies and keep giving Elain's flowers frostbite.
The day we planned to open the portal I felt Helion enter the Night Court. I found him wandering through the Rainbow of Velaris. I walked up to him and he barely gave me any acknowledgment of my presence.
"You know, I expected to find Tamlin wander back onto my territory days ago," he said looking into a window of a shop. "But ever since he winnowed from my land to your I never felt his presence again." Helion turned and gave me a bored look. "Please tell me that you didn't kill him."
I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck. "It's complicated."
Helion raised a brow. "So, you did kill him?"
"No!" I sighed and put my hands in my pockets. "He's visiting."
"He's not in some dungeon somewhere is he?" Helion said with a smirk.
"He's here on my terms, but no, not in a dungeon," I said. Helion gave me another look. "He's not in the Court of Nightmares either, Helion."
Helion started to walk down the street and I walked with him. "You know," Helion started, "Tamlin sent a letter to me days ago asking about other worlds. Do you know anything about why he would ask?"
I sighed and thought of Evangeline and Feyre. Instead, I said, "Helion, have things been disappearing in your court?"
Helion paused and stared into the distance. "Come to think of it, I've been missing some books and important messages for my correspondents."
"Have any of the other courts been missing things?" I asked.
"I think they may have mentioned something, or rumors have gone around," Helion said. Then he stopped walking and stared at me, tilting his head. "Why do you ask?"
"Nesta, Feyre's sister, made the mistake of trying to world jump," I said. "Instead she ended up in an unknown world with Feyre and since then little portal have been opening and closing around Prythian." I sighed and continued my way down the street, Helion following by closely. "Tamlin," I continued, "brought a little human girl with him to the Night Court days ago. She's from the world Feyre and Nesta are stuck in. We are now in contact with the fae and humans from the other world creating a way to bring everyone home."
Helion was silent for a little while. "Can I see?" he asked excitedly.
"I don't see why not," I said. "It might be hard to hide a portal from all the courts for forever since the plan is to keep it open."
Helion chuckled. "Don't forget you made us all clueless about Velaris."
I smirked. "I don't want to go through all that trouble again."

I brought Helion up to the House of Wind, where Elain was staying with Evangeline and Tamlin. I found Cassian practicing outside and he raised a brow when he saw me with Helion. I just shrugged at him and led Helion to the mirror.
The mirror was in the living room, sitting on a table and leaning against the wall. It looked like a normal mirror at first glance, but if you got closer you could begin to see the other world. Excited Helion peered through. On the other side of the mirror sat Nesta and the human girl who introduced herself as Elide. They looked up when they saw us approaching the mirror, seemingly noticing the change in scenery from their end.
"Hello Rhysand," Elide said looking up from her book. "You brought a friend."
"Hello Elide," I greeted. "How has your treatment been going?"
Elide looked at her leg propped up on her couch. "It's fine," she said. "Yrene performed the last surgery yesterday. Now I'm on bed rest again."
"Fascinating," Helion whispered.
Startled Elide stiffened. "Excuse me?" she asked, confused.
"Oh, sorry, not you darling, though you seem sweet," Helion said. "This mirror communication is quite interesting."
"Sure," Nesta said rolling her eyes and turning her attention back to her novel.
Elide rolled her eyes at her friend and focused on me. "Is there a message you need to leave for Feyre or Aelin?" she asked. "I can get Lorcan to deliver one. He's always nearby."
"No, just checking in and showing Helion here the mirror," I responded.
Elided nodded and gave me a smile. "Don't worry. Aelin has been busy all day. She's very excited and Rowan has had to calm her down more times than I can count."
I smiled slightly. Aelin's relationship with her mate Rowan seemed very deep and special, and I couldn't help but be jealous. They were together, and yet again Feyre and I have been split apart.
"Well, if we are lucky, maybe I will be able to meet you all tonight," I said.
"Oh! Can I come! You have piqued my curiosity," Helion said.
I chuckled. "I don't see why not?"
"Then it's a date," Helion said with a wink and I cringed.
"I thought you and your mate got together now," I said.
"I can never stop being my flirty self," he said with a grin.
