'So, we need to drop some blood on these and see if we're what the spell needs?' Lisa wanted clarification. They had all gathered back in Lisa and Dani's room and were chatting about the spell.
'That's step one.' Christina said.
'What happens if we match?' Lauren asked.
'We can do the spell and channel all of our powers together.' Christina continued. 'It should be enough to defeat the fallen angel.'
'What if we don't match?' Dani wondered. Christina looked to Katherine before answering.
'We don't do the spell unless everyone matches.' Christina confirmed. 'It's too dangerous.'
'Okay.' Amy said. 'Whose first?'
'I am.' Christina said. She took a stone from the pile and an athame from Katherine. Katherine was also by her side with the requirements for the spell. They watched as Christina pricked her finger and squeezed out a little drop of blood, hitting the stone. They saw the stone change from one colour to the next, without making a connection to one. Red, orange, blue and black were the most common appearances.
'What's it doing?' Dani asked.
'It's almost as if it can't decide.' Katherine watched it closely.
'I haven't been this nervous since Harry was under the sorting hat.' Lisa said. They all turned to look at her. 'What? This is basically the same thing.'
'Sure it is Lise.' Amy grinned. 'Look.' She directed their attention back to the stone. It had settled on a black as dark as the deepest cave.
'I don't like the look of that.' Christina admitted.
'What does black mean Kath?' Amy asked.
'Black is strength.' Katherine smiled. 'It's a match.' Christina let out a breath she didn't realise she was holding.
'Okay Kath, your turn.' Christina took the paper from her and handed her the athame. Katherine did the same as her older sister and they watched. But this time, the stone immediately settled on a strong green.
'That was fast.' Dani commented. 'What's green?'
'Green is forgiveness.' Christina said. 'It's also a match.'
'Good.' Katherine smiled. 'Next.' She held out the athame and Amy stepped up. Her colour was red meaning empathy, also a match. Lisa went next and she got blue.
'Blue is a combination of things, but they all accumulate in service to others.' Katherine explained. 'Loyalty, honour, trust, things like that. Blue is a match.' Lauren was next and her stone turned pink for kindness. Also a match.
'Okay Dani, last one.' Christina handed her the stone but there was an apprehension behind Dani's eyes.
'What is it Dan?' Amy asked.
'What if I don't match?' She asked. 'I don't want to let you guys down.'
'Hey, no pressure alright.' Christina smiled. 'If you don't match we'll just find another way.'
'It's not the end of the world Dan, well, it might be the end of the world but....' Lisa mumbled.
'Thank you for that Lisa.' Christina glared at her before turning back to Dani. 'No one will be mad if you don't match okay?'
'Okay.' Dani sighed.
'What colour do we need Kath?' Lauren asked.
'White.' Katherine told them. Dani nodded and let a little drop of blood fall to the stone. They watched anxiously as the stone went through a few colours, much like it did for Christina. Until it settled on a smoky white colour.
