(A/N: OH. MY. THOR! thank you guys so much for 1K reads!! we're so thankful for you guys. enjoy the chapter ;) - Reese)
*PETER'S POV*
I'm sad Harley is leaving earlier than he intended to. But it's for a good reason. He needs to be with his mother.
I feel so bad for him. He doesn't deserve this. No one does.
He's got so much going on right now. He's quiet a lot of the time. Probably thinking.
About everything.
Other than the reoccurring silence, I haven't noticed many changes about him. He's still peppy and enthusiastic so unless he's being fake then I think he's okay.
Honestly I'm kind of glad he's going. Of course I'll miss him but it's the right thing to do. His sister is only 12 years old and I'm sure his mom needs extra help since she won't be able to do a lot anymore.
I'm actually surprised he didn't tell me about his sister sooner. He was just telling me about his family a few weeks ago.
He said that she's a brat and that they argue a lot but he really does love her.
I wish I had siblings.
Every time I say that to someone, they respond with a face of shock and they say "no you don't." But I do. I want to know what it's like.
I mean I'm 17 and I'll be out of high school soon. So I probably never will, which I guess is fine.
Anyway, I've been comforting and supporting Harley through this whole thing. He needs it and I'm happy to give it. He supported me all the way through my breakup with M.J. so this is the least I could do.
Harley has changed me. For the better. He's made me more compassionate and understanding and I'll always be grateful to him for that.
Anyway, enough with the sappy stuff. I'm just going to enjoy my last couple of weeks with Harley... and try not to think about how long it'll probably be before I get to see him again after he leaves.
*HARLEY'S POV*
Peter has been so good through this. I was sort of anxious about his reaction but he's doing really great and I'm so glad I have him.
Today we're going to Central Park. I love being outdoors and I want to see more of New York City before I leave.
I hear a knock on my door. "Enter," I say.
Peter pokes his head through the door and gives me a goofy smile. "Ready to go?" I nod.
I'm assuming Peter told his family about why I have to leave early because they've all seemed more... caring? I don't know. But they've been a little different.
I keep calling my mom to make sure she's alright and she always tells me that she's fine and that I should enjoy the rest of my trip but how could I when I'm always worried about her? I'm trying though.
"You look cute," I say to Peter and nudge him. He grins sheepishly. "You do too."
We walk to the park together and spend some time there. Walking, talking, chasing birds, and annoying homophobic people.
It felt good to get out and get my mind off of everything.
It's just that my mom has been there with me through everything. When my dad left, she was there. She was strong and she stayed resilient through the whole thing. She improvised and adapted. And she never gave up. She's a fighter, not a quitter. Which is why, deep down, I know that she's gonna be alright.
And when I came out, she was so supportive and she didn't judge me at all. She hugged me and I cried and she did too. She told me that I was still her son, and nothing would change.
Throughout my whole life, she's been there. She's made everything happen. If I want to do it, she tries her best to make it happen. And now I can help her as best as I can. For all these years that she's raised me, I can help her survive.
Why do bad things always happen to good people?
*PETER'S POV*
Today I decided that I was going to take Harley to the restaurant that we went to on my birthday. I hope it cheers him up.
After we got back from the park, we lounged around all day until I told him my plans. He seemed happy. "So it can be our restaurant," he smirked. "Yes," I said, gleaming.
That's cute.
Now every time he comes up here, we can eat there. It'll be our little thing.

We walk out of the tower together, holding hands. I smile up at him and he flashes a small smile back down at me. "We're gonna be okay," I whisper. His eyes start to tear up. "Yeah," his voice cracks. "We'll be okay."
