He hated it, hated the feeling with every fiber of his being, the thought of Archie Andrews running his hands through her sandy hair, and Betty letting him. Those thoughts made his blood boil. How many times has he gone to Archie when he was full on breaking down because his feelings were overwhelming him? Only God knows. Years of comforting him when he thought he would never be good enough down the drain, like Archie shat it out and threw it in the trash can like a bitch.
"Jug-head, maybe it's for the best." Kevin said trying to comfort him, although Jughead and Kevin are like brothers Kevin still didn't say his name correctly, as a joke of coarse.
"No Kevin! He screwed me over! He was my rock at the age of two and now he's with Betty." He sat down quickly and threw his beanie off in frustration, just to run his fingers through his hair and tug in his roots, "He knows I love her." He said almost in a whisper although they were the only ones in his house. Kevin let out a deep sigh and sat down beside him.
"Jug, we both know you've loved her since Gladys sat you down beside her on the couch when you two were about a year old, but don't you think Archie May have liked her too?" Kevin glanced at him pitifully. Jughead didn't think about that. He looked over at Kevin and grabbed his beanie before placing it on his head.
"Love is stronger than 'liking' someone, he's using her as a rebound, didn't he break up with Veronica like a month ago?" Kevin sighed and stood as Jughead did.
"V and Archie broke up last year." He placed his hand on his shoulder, "Archies over her now." Jughead left then walking back to his trailer with a slouch, he knew it, he was never good enough, he would never be good enough, he was just the rat that lived on the Southside, that would be pulled down into the sewer drains of the waste land and slowly perish down there, that's what he was, Betty though, she was a prized pony, one that would travel the world and be presented to the world, an immortal figure that would only gain a wrinkle in every ten years after she left her youth. His blood boiled again, why wasn't he good enough? Archie was just as disgusting as a rat on the Southside, he literally hooked up with the entire cheer squad all at once while dating someone, he's a snake. With anger running through him he quickly texted into his phone.
Jughead: you me Pickens Park right now
When he was half way there she replied;
Betty:why?
Jughead:just come
He was sitting in a bench near the entrance of the gate when Betty was there, when he heard the gate of the park open and close he stood and faced her. She always looked 10x better every time he saw her, which would be over 10 000, "Why do you want to meet me?" Betty shoved her soft hands into her pockets. He sighed, he didn't think of this part."
"Why are you with him, Betty?" Jughead looked her in the eye and it felt like she was being crushed with curiosity.
"What-,"
"Why are you with him? We both know what he's done! Done with in their girls and women! He's not good for you!" He shouted but not too loud for the neighboring buildings to hear him.
"He- I-," Betty didn't normally stumble on her words but now she swears she just plummeted down a cliff.
"See! There's many guys out there better for you! Not just some football player!" He restrained himself from going full blown out on her, he still knew she was soft and vulnerable like he was.
"Well- who?" Her hands went to her hips, showing she was ready for a war; the last thing they both wanted.
"I-," Jughead blinked and breathed heavily, "well- I don't really know, but i hope you pick someone better than Archie." The words left his lips painfully, you may ask why, because all he wanted to do was say he was the right person, they were perfect for each other, perfect, their relationship would last forever, he bet.
"That's a valid answer, but give me a specific person." She leaned in and looked at him fiercely. Jughead thought.
"Well I know a perfect candidate." He said confidently.
"Well then enlighten me." Betty crossed her arms at her chest.
"I'll tell you a bit about him and hopefully you can guess."
"Go ahead."
"His name starts with an f, his last name ends with an s, he's as well the third generation with the name, he is also very attractive." He smirked with confidence as she thought but he was getting inpatient.
"I do-,"
"Me, Betty!" He snapped before thinking, instantly regretting it, Betty stood there looking like her lungs gave out.
"Wha-,"
"I get it you don't like me back but I've been taken back by you since my life started, and I'm getting tired of you hurting yourself with these shitty dudes." Jughead closed his eyes forcefully and sighed, "I know I'm not the best but I'm better than Archie, and Trev and all those other secret admirers, Betty." He looked at her hoping she could take it from here.
"Jug- I- I do-," he shut his eyes and nodded,
"I'll end this early then." He let the words pierce his heart painfully. Jughead started walking towards the gate but before her could pass Betty she quickly cupped his cheeks, brushed a stray tear and pulled him into the most powerful kiss she had ever experienced. His hands went to her soft cheeks aswell as they stood there, letting themselves get lost in each other's taste, Betty pulled away for air but then pulled right back into it, but this time dragging he tongue across his lip requesting entrance and his mouth opened. After their tongues explored uncharted waters Jughead gripped Betty's wrists softly and pulled away. Betty tried to chase his lips but it was no use and she looked up at him.
"Is everything okay?" Her soft eyes overwhelmed his.
"Everything's great." His hands swiftly moved to lace their fingers together, "Archie."
"I'll end it."
"When?"
"I- I don't know yet." Betty sighed. Jughead nodded before kissing her again.
"We'll figure it out."
