Poseidon hurried along the sidewalk, Percy dozing in his arms. At some point of time the poor child had fallen asleep, tired from crying. He was such a small thing for an eight year old. Just looking down at him made the sea god want to hide the child from the cruel world, far off in Atlantis. He looked so much like Sally. Like his daughter. But alas , keeping Percy with him was to bring  the child in danger.

He was in front of his destination now. To an ordinary mortal  the place might have looked like an abandoned church. But Poseidon was no ordinary man. The spire of the building rose as if it meant to touch the sky ,the gargoyles looking at him with hostility. Without knocking, he dashed into the Institute, the doors opening on their own . Afterall, was  he not a god? He heard the elevator ding  as a woman stumbled out of it. She wore an elegantly tailored suit , her ebony coloured hair in a tight knot and her blue eyes- that were so much like his grandson's - darting from one corner to the other, searching for danger. Despite the severe look, one could easily tell that she was quite young.

When she finally saw Poseidon, her eyes widened comically and she went down on her knees showing her respect to the deity  with whom her mother had fallen in love.

"My Lord ." She said.

"Rise Maryse . There is no need to bow . I am not my brother." Poseidon told .

"Not to sound rude but what business do you have  with the Nephilim my Lord? And is that ........" She trailed of, her eyes on the boy in the Earthshaker's arms.
"Perseus. Yes , he is Sally's son . This is why I came here. I have no business with the Clave . What I have to say concerns you." The god informed, his voice grave.

Hearing the tone of his voice, Maryse stiffened . She felt a sinking feeling at the pit of her stomach.

"My Lord, what is it?" She asked the deity in front of her, bracing for the worst.

A tear dropped out of the god's eyes , mixed with ichor.

"Sally's dead Maryse. She's gone. My little girl is gone." Poseidon's voice wavered by the end.

This was too much for Maryse Lightwood. She stumbled back, tripped and landed on a pew. Maryse , who was nothing if not graceful. Sally, her sister, her little flower , was dead . Although Sally had only been her half-sister, - the proof of her mother's unfaithfulness to her father- nevertheless, she had loved Sally as a full blooded one. The Sally who hated lying , but lied to save Maryse countless times. The Sally who despite being the younger of the two was always on a lookout for her . The Sally who saved her arse a million times. That Sally was dead? Maryse - her demeanor changed, her face aged years in seconds- burst out crying.

Maryse was one of the only people who knew about Sally's double life. The life as a demigod child of Poseidon and that as a Nephilim , bound to the cause of Raziel . Godly blood and Angelic blood. Although Maryse didn't see much difference between the two. Half-bloods and  shadowhunters. Both warriors of heavens. Both serving a cause by paying generations of their bloodlines. Both pledged to eradicate the creatures of the pit from this earth.

Sally along with her  had been one of the very first members of The Circle. But she had also been one of the first to leave once she understood Valentine's true nature. Foul deeds hidden  under the veil of beautiful wordplay. She had then retreated into the Mundane world changing her name into a mundane one -Jackson. They had kept in contact , but she had not seen her ever since.

Maryse wiped at her tears. "What shall I do?" She asked . Her voice was even .
"I want you to raise her son . He will have to visit  the Camp every summer though. Do this for her . For Sally." Poseidon said.

Maryse looked at the child . Really looked at him . Suddenly, something inside her clicked . The same something that she had felt when she felt her Isabelle's presence inside her for the first time. She took the child from Poseidon tenderly. Perseus was a beautiful child. The eternal godly beauty more prominent in his features than even in Sally.

"Yes." She told Poseidon. "I will raise him as my own . But on one condition." She stated.

"What ?" Poseidon asked , suddenly anxious.

"He is  Alexander from now one . Not just Perseus. Alexander Lightwood. My  Alexander." Maryse bent down and caressed her son's her face." My Alec ." She whispered.

The sea god sighed in relief.

Meanwhile for Percy - now Alec really- he just stirred a little. A small smile came up on his little face , as if he could sense his new mother and new name - and approve.
