Paige sat down at her designated lunch table with her tray of food, Janelle and some of their followers, following close behind her. She gazed outside the pristine cafeteria windows as the glisenting snowflakes fell from the sky. January was slowly fading away, but the weather wasn't.
"Paige! Are you listening to me?"
"Truthfully, I wasn't Janelle because 25% of the words that come out of your mouth are not important."
"Okay..-but, what happened in detention with Mr. McGuire."
"Nothing."
"Nothing, at all?"
"Are you slow or something? I said nothing the first time."
Janelle was taken aback by her insult, but knew she had to keep up her tough skin if she wanted to continue being Paige Bryant's best friend.
"Paige, your new shoes are stunning." Brittany, a follower stated.
Paige looked down at her new pair of Jimmy Choo slingbacks, "Thanks, I could get you a pair, if you like."
Brittany's eyes lit up, like a child's on Christmas morning.
"Really?!?!"
"Sure, that's what friends are for after all."
"You know, Toby's-
"Have you seen Emily's stomach? Rumor has it, she's preggo. She quit the cheerleading team" Amy, one of the minions interrupted, cutting off Janelle.
"Look's like she's got a bun in the oven." another minion answered, knowing what's new on the rumor mill.
Paige looked across the cafeteria at Emily, with a small protruding belly. What a slut, she thought.
"Hey, can I have your fries? I'm starving." Paige asked, Janelle.
"But I'm kinda starved to."
"Trust me, you really don't need them," Paige advised, taking the fries off her tray anyway.
"Yeah, Paige's right. I see a little muffin top blossoming." a follower commented.
Paige saw Janelle's stricken expression.
"Don't look like that. I was just letting you know. After all that's what friends do, right?" she questioned, munching on the fries.
"Right." Janelle replied with a fake smile.
"Are you coming to my swim meet this weekend?" Paige said. She loved refering it as hers because it's one of the only sports the school didn't have.
"Yeah, but I can't stay for too long, I have to study for my algebra exam." Janelle replied.
"But I need you there, Nelly." Page begged, using her signature puppy dog face.
"Okay, I guess I can study after it or something."
"Gotta run, but I'll catch you later, Nelly." Paige said, using her nick name for Janelle.
She got up from her chair and walked towards the exit of the school cafeteria in her navy blue uniform skirt, white blouse, and Jimmy Choos, in which she looked stunning in.
As she walked into her 4th period class, she saw a figure in her seat. Annoyance was clear on her face, as she strutted towards the seat. As she towered over the person in her desk, she took in their appearance. With her long brown hair, piercing brown eyes, and olive skin, Paige knew she had a little competition that was up against her. Despite that, Paige decided to be polite since the girl was new after all.
