Vault Bound

Chapter 6

The lights flickered inside the vault only meaning one thing. It was storming on the topside. The lights in the vault only did this when it was storming. What kind of storm was it? Nobody will ever know. Nobody will ever know if the storms were different after the bomb. For all they know it could be a hurricane, but everyone that was Everyone was safely tucked in the bunker underneath. Everyone was asleep with the thought of ever going back to the surface. Everyone except for a particular reddish dog who was on the lookout for a female whom he had hurt.

His claws clacked against the concrete as he stuck his big nose to the air and sniffed for the female whom he loved. He whined finding her faint scent, but grew excited finding a stronger more recent scent. He followed it all the way until he found the female huddled in the corner sleeping soundly but shivering from the dampness of the cold concrete. The male sighed in relief upon finding the female. He was worried she went and did something stupid and he would have had to save her.

Acer quietly moved and cuddled up against the female lifting her head with his tail and letting it fall back down on his back so she was comfortable. She stirred a bit in her sleep but the weim never woke up. Instead she cuddled closer to to Acer who couldn't help the smile that played at his lips. She made him feel at home and filled that empty feeling that had been in his heart ever since the death of his sister. Although his sister will always have a place in his heart he knew this female would help fill the empty void she left behind. Acer could practically feel his sister watching him from above and approving of his actions. She was at peace knowing her brother finally found happiness. He knew this female was going to be livid once dawn came as she was still mad at him for more reasons than he would ever know.

Just as his eyes were being heavy with emotion a sudden putter patter put him on high alert. He was ready to jump up and protect this female under any cost, but out from the shadows came the small pup he called his daughter. She yawned walking toward her father and curling up into his other side not touching Lyla. She fell asleep quickly and he smiled brightly. 'Maybe this would just work..' he breathed softly into the air knowing the two females curled into his side wouldn't hear as they were fast asleep. He was referring to Luna being his daughter and Lyla possibly being his mate. He knew how much Lyla despised that he had a pup with someone he didn't want to be with, but respected Acers decision to stay in his pups life although Lyla was saddened that she wouldn't be the one to bare his pups or that their pups wouldn't be the first time he seen it all happened. Their first steps, their first words, and so much more.

Acer was started by the sudden voice of the very female he was just thinking about. "You know how furrowed your face gets when you're in deep thought?" He chuckled breathlessly and looked at her amber orbs in which we're looking back at him. "I thought as soon as you awoken you would run for the hills based on the terms we left off on." He said in all seriousness as Lyla looked away with a sad smile. "I'm mad at you, but I'm way too comfortable to get up and move right now." He chuckled sadly at the thought of this female he cared so much about still being mad at him. "Besides I love you too much to stay mad at you forever." This part caught him off guard as he gapped at the female who smiled shyly not believing she said those words aloud. "You love me?" Acer questioned staring directly into the female eyes as he patiently awaited her response. "Yes I do" she stated not looking him back in the eyes.

"Look at me." He stated firmly. Not using his power to force her to look at him, but made sure the power was thick in his voice. "Please" he added softly so she would know he didn't want to use his power on her. She looked at him they both gazing into each other's eyes "I love you" she repeated he growled in approval as he smashed his lips to hers. They kissed for a moment before they pulled away panting for a breath. Acer took Notice that his pup had gotten up and left most likely to return to her mother. He never took his eyes off of Lyla though "I love you more than you know Mi Amor." He purred in happiness as he nuzzled her neck and breathed in her scent. He could practically feel the female, HIS female, glowing in happiness. Now that they have both declared their love for each other they were practically mates. All they had left was the joining ceremony to make them official.

The two laid there in silence just enjoying each other's presence. "So does this mean we are mates now?" Acer questioned as Lyla stilled below him. "I-I'm not sure Acer.. " her sudden terror scared him. He didn't want her to scare her off again. "It's okay if not Lyla. We can move at any pace you want." His eyes studied her face to see if they relaxed her any and it did. Her body posture physically relaxed as she sighed in content again and returned her head on his back. "Thank you" they stayed like that until he could hear Lylas soft snores filling the silence.

Acers thoughts kept him wide awake. 'Why didn't Lyla want to be his mate? They were both mature, and he would be soon taking over the pack and in order to do so he needed a mate.' He continued his thought until his body couldn't physically stay awake any longer as his eyes faded and he drifted off to sleep.
