3| NIGHT (part two)

Dark as night was the room... and very busy. There were towering shelves of potions and vials - some simmering soups, others were pastel and effervescent liquids. But this room was different. It felt different. Unlike the warmth the rest pf the school radiated, this one gave out... nothing, yet so much more! I couldn't put a finger on exactly what the room made me feel like but it was bizarre.

The professor, presumably, Nadin, gliding to the center of the spherical room, descending down the stairs, grabbed a massive, transparent orb encased in a rose fold prism frame and set it unto a medium sized (around 4 feet) space grey table. Literal space gray in that, it had stars and constellations drifting across it gracefully, mindlessly. He sat down on one end and ushered me to sit on the other after which, we were joined by professor Auritel who stood over his chair. "Nadin, this boy!" She gasped. Was she going to tell him about the way I stared at her? Had I offended her when I did? "Yes I know, Aiana, it shook me too. The moment he stepped into the hall, I knew it was him. But stellar how a boy could be felt throughout campus!" Starting off coolly before finishing off in perplexity.

"Uhm, professors? If you may, what's going on?" I interrupted and professor Nadin looked me right in the eyes - from the curiosity in his eyes, it was like he was studying me. Looking satisfied yet mystified at the same time, he turned to professor Auritel, "Aina, get me the demostratum," he instructed her before turning towards me. "I have a theory, Wexler, about you, that is. I wish to prove it," he says and I nod nervously leading him to smile. Professor Auritel returned with a vial of water, a small cup and large one and a barrel. To say I was confused would be an understatement.

"Mr. Wexler, do you know what I mean when I say, attunement capacity?" He asked. "Is it the worth of magic inside someone?" I tried and he smiled genuinely "yes, that's right; it's the amount of magical potential that one has. Potential differs from person. Some people have more, some people have less. But this will come after your attunement placement." He stated.

"Wasn't I third-last on the list? Why am I taking it now?"
"Oh, you'll see Mr. Wexler,"

He stood up and placed his hands on the glass ball, fingers apart. Just like that, the ball began glowing an iridescent purple color that made the humming in me grow a little bit. "Now, place your hand inside the glass ball," taking a seat, he instructed and I, unsure, reached for the glass ball and sure enough, my fingers went straight through! I looked up at Professor Nadin and he just seemed calm, utterly unfazed. "Okay, now, close your eyes and focus on something that makes you happy and calm. I'll ask you a few questions and I want you to answer me as honestly as possible," he instructed, I nodded.

"Good, now, which attunement out of fire, water, earth and air do you desire most? You can choose a combination of two or more if you please,"

"Water,"

"Hm. Interesting choice. Why?"

"It's fluid and seams free and easy to control yet it can cause damage,"

"Yes. Agreed. Now, you've reached an abandoned cave, full of treasures. Any treasure you desire. What do you take?"

"As much as I can! Though, it'd feel wrong in the end,"

"Describe to me, your dream pet. Real or not,"

"A massive 60 foot midnight snake with lots of scales - tough ones. It would breathe enormous plumes of fire and would be able to fly with the stars and chase comets. It'd be hard to tame but, only I'd be able to,"

"Curious, very curious. Open your eyes now,"

When I did, I was met by a purple ball turned blue. "Well, Mr. Wexler it's safe to say that you're attuned to -" but before he could finish that sentence, the ball exploded with incredible force. The humming in me grew to astounding levels. And it hurt. Out of the shattered glass, black clouds poured out - they looked inverted, in that, they were lighter at the shadows. They sunk low to the ground as the humming became a full force earthquake. "INCREDIBLE!" Nadin yelled as I cried out in pain. "Mr. Wexler!" He rushed over to my side, where I'd fallen off the chair and started mumbling something. But the quaking only got worse, now affecting the physical world too. The building shook and swayed as if it stood on plastic pipe support. Things were whizzing around left and right. Nadin ducked as an entire shelf flew over him and crashed into the wall, shattering.

The sconces on the walls erupted like volcanoes of fire, spewing dire everywhere. Auritel, who was already having a hard time controlling the flying shelves began fighting with the fire. "What is wrong the boy, Nadin?!" She screamed over the massive ruckus, but Nadin was busy mumbling stiff near me but his eyes grew when he heard me yell again. Louder than before. When I did, the windows shattered as a massive wind flew in and tore through the building and nothing, not even the two professors or the shelves could resist it.

It was chaos. Not for long though.

I felt a new presence. A powerful one - almost as powerful as the red man only this force seemed about as mystical as you can get. I couldn't say how it felt like exactly but, it was like euphoria rushing through me in land of dreams. Soon after, an old woman with a neatly tied bun stormed through the doors.

"ARRETO EXACTUM-INFINITI!" She howled and out of her outstretched arms, a massive blue white light tinted faintly by dreamy purples and blues flooded the whole room, stopping everything in mid air. "ESREVERO!" she howled once more and the entire room seemingly walked backwards in time as everything reset itself as if nothing had ever happened. "The halls are cleared; Students were moved to another building before things got too wild. Nadin, Aina, the Auritum enchantment  around the whole school immediately. I'm taking him -" she pointed at me with an expressionless face. "To his first class... Meet me at my office after school. Don't be late," the woman instructed before walking out as if she hadn't just put the two professors' magics to shame. I just sat there both confused and impressed.
