Maths.

As if I need to learn maths- so I don't really bother learning it. I usually scrape a pass on this subject.

Dance class is next period, and I'm itching to put on my pointe shoes and learn the classical piece we've been promised to perform at the end of year showcase.

I'm hoping to be picked for the lead. Last year, it was a girl who's father owned one of the biggest and most prestigious professional dancer recruitment agencies in LA. So this year, I'm going in with a plan.

I roll my eyes at Grace, who has dance class with me next. She looks just as bored as I feel.

I sure hope Grace doesn't get the lead role.

I tell myself she won't, because despite being an amazing dancer, Grace doesn't have the power or influence to get the role.

"Mackenzie, can you balance the equation?"

I'm rudely awaken from my daydream and I have no clue what the teacher is asking.

"The one on the board? Can you balance it?" she prompted. My teacher is nice, even if I don't pay attention.

"Um..."

I'm saved the trouble of responding by a loud knock at the door.

My teacher sighs and turns to open it.

In walks my sister, looking glamorously gorgeous- as per usual.

"Madison!"

Of course my teacher knows Maddie. Maddie was probably her favourite student.

"Hi, Ms Bega," Maddie smiles brightly, "could I grab Mackenzie?"

Everyone had been staring at my perfect sister, but every eye turns to me as she said my name.

"Of course!"

Students being taken out of class was a regular occurrence at a school like this, so I don't think much of my sisters request.

I throw my stationary and books into my bag and get out of my seat, joining Maddie at the door.

Maddie gives one last bright smile before the door slams behind us and she's leading me down the hallway.

We begin walking to her car when it hits me that we're going out of school.

"Maddie, I have dance class next," I complained.

She said nothing, only unlocking the car door and getting into the drivers seat.

She waits till I was in and locks the door.

"Alright, Mackenzie, this is serious."

I suppress the urge to roll my eyes.

"What's up?"

"What's up?" Maddie looks annoyed, "freaking Emmaline Rogers is up. She's talking shit about us, and thanks to TMZ, everyone thinks we are psycho-bitches."

"What!" I huff, "We met that Emmaline bitch at the MTV music awards and we literally kissed her sorry ass!"

"I know! Except, when we tell everyone that, try to sound nice. Jade's literally got us an interview with E! News in 3 hours. We all know that's what they'll be asking about. It's also a house tour, and once we've cleared up that we are nice people, it's gonna be talk about the show."

It's a lot to take in, but I guess I'll just let Maddie take the reigns in this interview.

"Also, Mackenzie, it's LIVE..."

"Wait- live. Why?"

"To show there aren't any edits to the interview to ensure we are real, I guess," she shrugs.

Maddie finally starts driving, talking about how the cleaners and Mindy are already at work, and how we have to look casual-nice.

I half listen, but half fret. What if I screw this up? I'm a sarcastic person, often too much, but what if that's interpreted as rude?

Just don't talk too much.
