"Fine," she says softly avoiding eye contact. He's intimidating, both of them happen to be naturally huge. When she's in such a vulnerable state like she he words often get caught in her throat.

Stick speaks up, "You want anything to eat? I'm sure I can find something to eat in the kitchen for ya."

Her fragile being is bringing out sides of the bikers they never knew they had. They aren't used to such soft women. This life isn't for the weak. You have be able to hold your own to survive, women included to an extent. Take Cheryl as and example, she's sweet but you don't cross her. She can hold her own and that is well known.

She clears her throat before accepting his offer. She hasn't had much of an appetite, but having something to occupy her hands would be nice. He nods and leaves the room leaving Everleigh and Blade alone in the room.

Silence settles around the room. He's staring at her while she purposefully avoids looking anywhere near his direction. He's struggling to figure out why he can't stop looking at Everleigh. Why her shy actions are cute to him. Cute has never been in his vocabulary until now apparently.

Cute? What the fuck is wrong with me?

She peaks her head towards him to see of he's still staring, he is. When they make eye contact she quickly turns away, cheeks red. He smiles at the look on her face. Blade has never been around anyone this adorable before and honestly he doesn't know how to act.

I'm a biker for fucks sake. Adorable? Cute? What is this chick doing to me. Fuck.

As Everleigh sits there  with tomato red cheeks, Syd and Psycho are talking things out in his office.

"Of course we'll help Syd. I mean I've got to talk to the guys, put it up to vote, but I highly doubt they'll turn away a women in need."

This is a relief for Syd. Although she thought he would agree, it was never a guarantee. She knows her brother loves her, but the other guys in the club don't share the sentiment. They don't know her. She is a stranger to most of them.

Its a bit later and Everleigh and Syd are out in the common room whilst they have Church to discuss what they are going to do. Everleigh has convinced herself that she should just leave. They are going to turn her away she is sure of it. Why would they help me?  I'm just going to bring unneeded problems. I should just leave. I can do it on my own. Plus Syd will be leaving her whole life in New York behind. For what? Me?  No, I can't go through with this. What was I thinking?

Everleigh stands from the leather couch and heads for the door. No money, no plan, but ready to leave.

God what am I doing? Am I really going to leave and give up possible protection?

I don't know what to do. Do I stay or go?

Everleigh is visibly hysterical. Syd is  busy talking to the woman behind the bar. Unaware of her friends behavior, until her name is called by a nearby.

"Syd, uh, your friend's freaking out." She is quick to turn. When her eyes land on Everleigh she is quick assess the situation. Cautiously walking towards her, Syd is very concerned. There Everleigh stands almost catatonic. Stock still and mumbling to herself. She isn't responding to Syd's calls.

"Doll?" She takes a step closer.

"Evie?" Its heartbreaking what her friend has been through. Syd's surprised that she held herself together this long.

When Syd reaches her friend she gently guides her to the couch she was occupying not long before. Syd wraps her arms around Everleigh tightly and just holds her, hoping she'll come back to reality soon.

Syd has never seen her friend like this before. So, broken and numb. A tear makes its way down her cheek. Syd has always been a loyal and caring friend almost to a fault. It hurts her when her friend is hurting.

Incomprehensible mumbles are still flowing out of Everleigh. She doesn't know what's happening around her. Her lack of awareness is obvious and terrifying.

The sight would have been laughable if not so worrying.  Syd is wrapped around a stiff and void Everleigh, she is almost sitting on top of the poor girl as they slowly rock back and fourth.  Slowly Everleigh relaxes into her best friends hold, almost completely back into her reality.

It totally hasn't been like a year since I picked this up :/
