(a/n: this is in third person for the most part)
~~~~~Virgil awoke to the sound of chatter coming from the living room. He rolls his eyes and attempts to fall back to sleep. When he can't go back to sleep he groans and sits up in his bed. He stretches and gets up out of his bed. He walks over to his closet and pulls out a black jumper since it's always freezing in his room; The AC system is messed up and he hasn't bothered to ask Logan to fix it.
He didn't really mind the coldness. It was only bad in winter when the entire Mind Palace is freezing. In Summer he mainly stayed in the comfort of his room anyway.
As he walks out of his room he runs into someone,"S-sorry." He says without realizing who he bumped into. He looks up and sees Roman standing there, he rolls his eyes and walks away without saying a word.
"Jeez. I said sorry." Virgil says sarcastically,
"Did you actually mean it though? You're not exactly apologetic or caring at that." Roman says turning around and facing Virgil.
"If it were anyone but you, then yes I would've meant it." Virgil says walking past Roman and purposefully bumping into the now annoyed boy. He and Virgil have never gotten along. They're constantly at each others neck for one reason or another.
For the most part it's Roman causing the arguments, the rude remarks about Virgil when he's in Thomas' videos, the sarcastic responses to any of the mostly great ideas he has. But, Virgil is also too blame, the constant negative remarks when Roman says or does anything, the instigating. Which, both of them do. Logan and Patton have tried to get the two seemingly enemies, to get along, but, they always avoid each other.
As Virgil walks into the living room he sees Patton on the couch watching, for the thousandth time, Aladdin."Hey kiddo!" He says smiling at Virgil,
"Hi Pat." Virgil says sitting down and going on his phone.
"Is everything alright?" Patton says looking at the anxious, well more than usual, Virgil sitting next to him.
"Roman. I bumped into him in the hall by accident. And he called me unapologetic and uncaring. I don't even care, he's just so irritating." Virgil says rolling his eyes, the annoyance in his voice very clear.
"Awe, squirt, don't let him get to you. He's probably had a rough morning that's all." Patton says and Virgil puts on a small, fake, smile and gets up to walk away. As he does, he sees Logan and Roman walking out into the living room. Roman looks furious. But he doesn't say anything.
"Virgil can you sit down please. Patton and I have something to discuss with you." Virgil sits down and looks over at Patton, he doesn't look very happy at whatever Logan is about to say.
"W-what did I do?" Virgil asks feeling the anxiety creeping up on him.
"Nothing. Patton would you care to tell him? I've already informed Roman." Logan asks calmly and Patton nods his head,
"So, Logan and I have been talking about this for awhile. We, well Logan, found a small camp. No one goes there it's pretty much vacant. But we have fixed it up and asked for permission for the two of you to go there." Patton says pointing his finger at Roman and Virgil. Virgil's eyes widen,
"Wait, wait, wait. You want Roman and I to go camping, we can literally just go in different areas and tents." Roman looks over at Virgil and sarcastically says,
"Wow, someone has a good idea for once." Virgil rolls his eyes and says,
"Shut it Roman." Patton and Logan look at each other and then back at the two boys in front of them,
"That's the thing, there's only one cabin available. And you two are sharing it. And all other camp activities you two have to do together." Logan says scratching the back of his head.
"WHAT?!" Roman and Virgil say at the same time.
"We've already got you guys almost all packed. You leave at 1." Virgil looks over at the little clock on the wall; 12:34. It reads.
"Why don't we have a say in this?- How long will we be there?" Roman asks and Virgil nods.
"The summer. And it's because we knew neither of you would go through with this. We've been planning it for a while." Patton says. Roman puts a hand on his face and says after awhile,
"I'll do it." Virgil slowly nods in agreement.
"We got you bus tickets already. I'll be right back." Logan says and disappears for a brief moment before appearing with 2 suitcases and bus tickets. He hands Virgil his bag and the ticket and does the same for Roman. Then Patton hugs them both before saying,
"The bus stop is just down the street. You might want to start going." Both of them nod and say their goodbyes before heading out the door. They walk in silence as they find the bus stop. The bus comes not too long after and when they walk on there's only 2 seats available;
And they're right next to each other.
"You've got to be kidding me." Vigil says and sits down. Roman stays silent as he sits down. The bus driver informs the riders that the drive is a few hours. 3-4 depending on traffic. Virgil and Roman both roll their eyes and Virgil takes out his phone and puts on his headphones. He lays his head on the glass window. He feels Roman nudging his shoulder. He looks up annoyed.
"Logan didn't grab my headphones. Can I have one?" Roman asks pointing at his ear. Virgil looks at him for a second before handing over one earbud to him and faces the window again.
"Thanks." Roman says quietly putting the earbud in. Virgil nods slightly but doesn't look up. The next song comes on and it's 'That Green Gentlemen.' by Panic! At The Disco. Roman starts lightly humming to the tune. Virgil slowly looks over and says,
"You listen to Panic?" Roman nods and says,
"I'm more surprised that you do. You seem more like a heavy metal person." Virgil shakes his head and says unintentionally harsh,
"Not my music. I'm not really into that type of stuff." Roman nods and Virgil still faces the window. An hour into the drive Roman looks over at Virgil to see him sleeping. His shallow breath fogging up the window, hood up of his favorite sweatshirt, covering the purple dye in his hair. Roman wouldn't admit it but he did think Virgil looked slightly attractive. He pushed that thought away and closed his eyes and let sleep take over him for the rest of the ride. Thoughts of what await the two floating in each others mind.
