Roman and Virgil are woken up by the bus driver who tells them they're at the camp. He also tells them their cabin number and hands them a key. Then they grab their bags and head off the bus. They're greeted by a camp counselor who greets them gives them a rundown of the rules,
'1. Curfew is 11 no exceptions.
2. No phones (Virgil was not very pleased with this rule)
3. You need your "partner" to go anywhere. Except bathrooms or showers.
4. Stay in camp premises at all times
5. Breakfast is from 8-10am, Lunch is from 12-2pm, Dinner is from 5-8pm.
6. All activities done in camp must be done with a "partner"
7. Each camper gets 3 "strikes" if they use all three they will be kicked out of camp the following day.'
After they got told the rules they were sent in the direction of their cabin; C6. The cabin farthest away from anyone. Roman unlocks the door and they walk in to see; a wool couch, a mini coffee table, two dressers, a bunk bed, and a skylight above the couch.

"Dibs on top." Roman says and he puts his bag up there.
Virgil rolls his eyes and sets his bag on his bed and walks over to the couch and sits down. He notices a piece of paper and reads it; it's a schedule. There's nothing planned for today. Roman walks over and sits down on the other side of the couch. Virgil hands him the paper and he reads it silently and nods.

"Tomorrow is all like water-related. We have canoeing, swimming, and some weird obstacle course thing." Roman says and Virgil freezes.

"Not happening. A-are they mandatory?"

"Uh yeah. That's what the paper says." Roman says sarcastically. Virgil nods shakily and lays down on the couch, head on the arm, facing the skylight. Roman notices his breathing is very short and shaky.

"Virgil? You alright?" Roman asks and Virgil slowly sits up and puts his head in his hands. He says something but it's muffled by hands,

"What?" Roman asks not hearing what he said.  Virgil raises his voice a little and says,

"I-i'm afraid of water." He closes his eyes and says,
"I've only ever told Patton that." Roman nods his head and says,

"I'm afraid of fire. I love bonfires and stuff but it's always terrified me." Virgil opens his eyes and puts his hands down, his face red, and he looks panicked.

"R-really?" Roman nods and says,

"Don't tell anyone though." Virgil nods and his breath slows, his hands a lot less shaky. He takes a deep breath and says.

"Tell anyone and I'll never talk to you again." And gets up and walks out of the door. Roman follows and says,

"You know we have to stay together right?" Virgil rolls his eyes and says harshly,

"I'm very aware. But i'd rather spend my summer in my own bedroom alone than with you." Roman rolls his eyes now and says,

"And you don't think I feel like that? I'm only doing this for Logan and Patton. Not you." Virgil freezes slightly hurt by what Roman said and says,

"Leave me alone. Just because I told you i'm afraid of water, doesn't mean we're best friends or something." An announcement for dinner comes on and Virgil walks away, purposefully hitting Roman in the process. Roman walks after Virgil and heads to the Dining Hall. He has no real choice so he gets his food and sits over near Virgil.
They eat in silence. The chatter of other campers fill the hall. Roman finishes first and waits until Virgil finishes and then puts their plates away. They head to their cabin where they see a letter on their door;

'Mandatory Bonfire and S'mores tomorrow night at 7! For Opening night!'

Virgil smirks and walks into the cabin, Roman walks in after and they both sit down on the couch. The tension like a brick wall. Roman is the first one to talk.

"We need to get along Virge. We aren't going to survive this summer if we don't." Virgil looks over and says,

"One, don't call me that. Only friends. And, two, we need to get along, yes. But how can we do that? We disagree on everything, we have nothing in common." His voice sounds sincere but there's a hint of anger still there.

"Um, what's your favorite movie?" Roman asks. Virgil looks at him weird and rolls his eyes as he says,

"The Corpse Bride. You?" Roman nods and says,

"The Nightmare Before Christmas." Virgil looks at him surprised,

"I thought it would've been like Cinderella or something." Roman shrugs and says,

"I do love those movies but Tim Burton is incredible." Virgil nods and asks,

"Favorite Band?" Roman smiles and says,

"Panic! or MCR. I have several." Virgil pauses for a moment before saying,

"Same here. I draw. It's not good at all but I do it when I'm really stressed and stuff." Roman looks over at him and asks,

"Can I see some drawings? Well- when we get back to the mind palace." Virgil smiles, it's a small one, but it's a smile.

"I snuck my small sketchbook. Just incase. Hold on a second." He gets up and goes to his bed and pulls out his book and sits next to Roman on the couch. He hands Roman the book and he opens it.
The first drawing; Its of all the sides. Patton first, with his little cat hood on, then Logan adjusting his tie, then Roman, he's smiling and is fixing his hair, lastly Virgil, he's looking up at all of them there's a very faint smile on his face and his hood is up.

"This is incredible. Where'd you learn to draw like this Virgil?" Roman says his smile bright. Virgils smile is a little bit brighter as he says,

"Been drawing my whole life. It's my "coping" mechanism." He says putting air quotes around the word coping. Roman nods and flips to the next page.
The second sketch, it's of a snake. It's red and white, like Romans' uniform. Roman looks at it and then looks at Virgil,

"Is this supposed to be me?" He says a hint of playfulness in his voice. Virgil starts laughing and says,

"I drew that like a year ago. But yes it's supposed to be you." Roman starts laughing and closes the book and sets it on the coffee table. They talk a little more and the tension is almost entirely gone.
Virgil goes to stand up and walk over to his bed when he trips over the leg of the table and lands on Roman. His head on his chest, he, panicked gets up and almost hits heads with Roman.

"Geez Virgil, you're such a klutzy person." Roman says teasingly, Virgil turns red and says,

"S-sorry Ro." And walks away to his bed and he lays down. 'Ro?' Roman thinks and he sits there for a little while longer and then gets up and climbs onto his bed. Before he goes to sleep he says,

"Goodnight Virge." There's a small pause before Roman hears,

"Night Ro." Virgil says quietly.

And then they both fell asleep.
