“Are you going to tell Adam?” I ask Sara. “About the pregnancy?” She places a hand on her hip and takes a deep breath.
“Of course he needs to know, since there's the possibility he might have been it,” Sara explains. “I'm not so sure how bring it up in front of him…”
I nod slowly and plop onto her bed, pulling a pillow to my chest. I’m still not sure of how I feel about Adam and I really wouldn’t like to let anyone know about it, especially not Sara. I’m still shocked about Jenny’s pregnancy. Was it Adam or Kevin? Both of them don’t seem like the type to get her pregnant. But who would know.
“Aren’t you shocked, Sara?”
She looks at me with soft eyes and smiles gently. God, I love her smile. “I trust my older brother to make his own choices,” she says.
She places a hand on my shoulder and laughs quietly. I sit there in silence until we hear noises from outside of the house. I exchange glances with Sara and peep down the window.
“I didn’t tell you to clear the scratch for me,” we hear Adam shout. He glares at the young man standing in front of him and points to his car.
“You still have to pay me,” the young man says.
I can see Adam roll his eyes.
“No, I don’t. I didn’t tell you to do it for me so I don’t have to pay you,” Adam says, aggravated.
“What’s going on?” Sara shouts from the window. My eyes widen as they both turn to look at us. I quickly move away from their view since I’m not wearing a scarf.
I quickly grab a scarf and abaya, running down the stairs with Sara on my tail.
“Do you know how long I spent cleaning that?” The guy looks annoyed and distressed.
“Who told you to clean it?!” Adam shouts, unable to hold himself back. I kick his shoe lightly so he could get the clue to stop. Seems like he didn’t. “Get lost!”
“I’m not going anywhere until you pay me,” he says, crossing his arms. I roll my eyes and step closer so he knows I’m about to do something. I reach into the pocket of my abaya, pull out my wallet and attempt to hand him a 20 dollar bill.
“No, I cannot accept this,” he says kindly. Adam rolls his eyes and clenches his jaw as he stares at me. “I can only accept this from him, as it is his car.”
Adam pushes me to the side and confronts him. “How much do you want?”
Stupid jerk.
The young man opens his mouth in surprise. “As much as you see fit,” he says, grinning ear to ear. Seeing him grin like that, makes me smile. He must really need the money.
Adam throws a five dollar bill onto the grass, opening his car door. “Don’t ever touch my car again,” he says.
“Thank you so much,” the man says continuously. He drives off in his own car, not giving a care in the world. With one last glance towards us, he disappears down the street.
“Was that so hard?” Sara asks.
“I wasted my energy for nothing. I’m going up,” I say. Sara stops me.
“How old do you think he is?” Sara asks. She squints her eyes as she stares at him walking down the street. “I was thinking twenty.”
“Do you know how old he is?” I turn to Adam questioningly.
