The Long Wait

Chapter 3

Classes went by smoothly until it was finally time to go home. She quickly rushed out of class to the parking lot. Her chauffeur was not yet in so she sat down on a bench under a tree which fortunately for her protected her from the hot summer sun.

Look who we found, she heard someone say beside her. Oh hey Shantelle right?

Yes, what are you doing here all by yourself?

Oh uh just waiting for someone.

Okay, so I was wondering if you'll be going for the freshers party at Angel's Grill on Saturday ?

I didn't know there was something of that sort going on but I don't think so.

Why not? You shouldn't miss this for anything gurrl, Tracy said. You know what? Why don't we exchange contacts and be ready by seven? We'll come pick you up. Cheresse opened her mouth to protest but she was quickly cut off by Shantelle.

We're not taking no for an answer, just be ready by then. You won't regret it, trust me. Cheresse sighed and gave them her phone to key their contacts in. A grey Range Rover Evoque 2019 parked in front of them and the driver got out to meet her. Ms I'm , it's okay, she said.

Well that will be my ride so I guess I'll see you at Angel's Grill? I'll come meet you there.

Wait a sec, Shantelle said, you mean this is your ride? Are you some billionaire or something? Cheresse blushed slightly and shrugged.

I'll see you guys later she said and got into the back seat of the car. Fifteen minutes later she was home and starving. She quickly took a shower and changed into a tank top and sweat pants. Just as she got downstairs into the kitchen her mum walked in looking so tired.

Hey mum! I can tell you had a stressful day at work. You should really take some time off work.

You know I don't like being idle but I'll consider your advice. Have you gotten something to eat sweetie?

No I'm starving mum. I'll just get some cereal. Erm mum, Mrs Parker looked up, facing her daughter. I'm listening go on.

So there's this party that is taking place at Angel's Grill tomorrow and I was wondering if I could pass through? All the while she kept her fingers crossed behind her.

You already know what my answer will be and it's a NO.

But mum this is a party for the freshers and you've been telling me to go out and make friends now I want to do just that and you won't allow me to.

Don't raise your voice at me young lady. I'm not changing my mind so get over it and stop behaving like a spoilt brat.

You always take the fun out of everything, Cheresse said and angrily pushed her chair backwards as she dashed to her room. That evening she cried herself to sleep. She woke up to sound of her dog barking by her bed and a terrible headache. Still in a somber mood, she got up to take her bath. Her stomach growled as she looked at the time. It was now one in the afternoon and she being her stubborn self decided to stay in her room despite she being hungry. She dozed off and woke up to the light knocking on her door. She angrily made her way to the door and yanked it open but what she saw  in front of her changed her mood.

Daddy she screamed and jumped into his arms. Mr Parker is a well built man, very handsome for his age and has a height of 7'2. I missed you so much dad, what are you doing here? I mean weren't you suppose to arrive in the evening?

I know but I wanted to give my two lovely princesses a surprise. I really missed you lot. He pecked her on the cheek and gave His wife a lingering kiss. She stepped away and walked to to her bed. So what is this I'm hearing about you not stepping out for breakfast and lunch? Over a party?

Dad it's not just a party and you know I don't go for these kind of things so why is she preventing me from going just this once? She glared at her mum.

Okay let's just settle this right now. Why don't you come down for a late lunch with me and your mum then I'll let you go to this party you so want to go to.

Are you serious Dad? He nodded his head yes. Thank you so much Dad she screamed excitedly. You're the best dad in the whole wide world she gave him kisses all over his face which got Mr Parker laughing.

Okay so now that you're no longer mad at me let's go eat before the food goes cold .

As they finished eating, Mr Parker told Cheresse about the surprise luggage he had waiting for her in their room. This got her jumping out of her seat and taking the stairs two at a time. Barging into her parents room she got a hold of the luggage and drugged it to her room. Opening it she found the Fenty bag she's been asking for with some other high fashion brands cosmetics, shoes, dresses and whatever you could think of . Despite her family being extremely rich and her parents not wanting her to lift a finger, she didn't like people organizing her stuff because they don't arrange her stuff the way she wants it , which means she packs and unpacks her closet herself.

Just as she finished arranging the last piece of clothing her phone started ringing. Hey Shantelle sup?

Hello how have you been?

I've been okay. Just had a little misunderstanding with my mum but we're okay now.

Alright! I'm just making sure you'll be at the party? Don't want any unexpected but expected surprise, if that makes sense.

Oh you have nothing to worry about just wait for me at the entrance when you get there before me and just so you know I'll be coming along with my best friend.

Alright, that will be nice. Wear something hot , Shantelle could be heard laughing on the other side of the line. Don't worry I'm just kidding.
