The next day was Monday, and Jay hadnt seen Roc all day. He wasnt in first or second periods. Maybe I got lucky. It's almost luchtime and he isnt around. Jay thought maybe she'd gotten lucky. Boy, was she wrong.
"Jayla," Roc came up to her at lunch. Of course, Michelle and Brittany were smiling. Nicole, a new girl in their group, was choking on her milk because she was laughing so hard. "We need to talk..."
"... about what exactly?" Jayla said, not looking at him.
"Yesterday." he said her ear, but it was loud enough for the girls to hear the real reason she'd left them at the mall.
Snitch! she thought. "Come on..." he said before he walked out of the lunchroom.
Jayla laughed nervously as her friends glared at her. She got up quickly and walked out of the lunchroom.
Roc was waiting at the fountain next to the exit. D***, fiiinne! she thought as she looked at him for the first time today.
"Are you okay?" he asked, he was definitely worried.
"Yea, I'm good." she smiled.
"Listen, I had a great time yesterday," Roc said, smiling for the first time. "Well, until the pie scene..."
Jayla laughed. "Yea, I had fun, too."
"Of course you did. You were with me."
"Cocky much?"
"Girl, you know you're in love with me."
"I wouldn't say 'in love', but-"
"all of the girls fall for me eventually..." he stuffed his hands in his pockets and smiled. He had a shirt with no sleeves on. Yea, maybe I will sooner than you think.
"Whatever, bro."
"Okay, let's have a bet."
"What are the odds?"
"$10,000 says that you'll fall in love with me after a doen days, including today..." What the entire f***?
"$10,000?" Jayla chocked. "I dont have $10,000..."
"Its okay, if I win, you have to be my girlfriend... If I dont win, I'll give you the money and leave you alone." He said, with his held held out. "Deal?"
This has got to be to good to be true. Maybe I can go college now. I know his rich a** got it. I aint got nothing to lose. If he doesnt keep his word. I am back to the way I am now. And TBH, he is sexy af...
"........You've got yourself a deal." Jayla finally said. They shook hands and smiled. Then they walked back inside. Jayla sat back down with the girsl. Roc sat with Ray and the boys.
"What?" Jayla asked her friends, who were watching her.
"How da hell did you just get here and you already off of team single?" Brittany asked. The girls all laughed and Jay shrugged.
