Izuku Midoriya stood defensively in front of a boy on the ground who was clutching his stomach in pain and wailing like a newborn baby. Midoriya's hands were curled into fists as he glared as menacingly as possible at the three boys in front of him. He struggled not to cry himself, If he wanted to be anything like All Might, he needed to be brave. Although his heart was beating so fast Midoriya thought it would explode he still managed to utter a few words in defense.

"Why are you being so mean, you're making him cry Kachan! If you keep on hurting him, uh... I'll... uh," Midoriya struggled to think of something to say his mind going blank. "I'll stop you myself!"

It took a few moments for the three boys to register what he had said, then they started laughing at the display of courage Midoriya showed.

"Hah, you want to pretend to be a hero?" Kachan said smirking "You don't stand a chance without a quirk Deku." 

All three boys charged at Deku, their quirks at the ready. Deku gulped, tears already streaming down his face despite him trying to hold them back.

After being beaten and kicked Midoriya lay on the ground of the playground staring up at the sky, the boy who had been crying was still on the ground sniffling quietly behind him. Why didn't he have his quirk yet the 5-year-old wondered? Why was it so unfair!?
