Chapter 8 - Goals

After what happened yesterday, I explained to Star and Quaza why I was like that, but I didn't tell the truth really. I just said what Minus said that he was just a split personality or something.

They went with it I guess.

It was weekend and we were taking a walk together around the school campus. I wanted to check out the school more and Starza (That's what I call Quaza and Star cuz they're cute together) was giving me a tour around.

As we walk, I started to feel like trying know them more, so I started to ask them some questions.

"Hey Star, where were you from..?"
I asked him while he was carrying Quaza on his back.

"Well.. I'm from planet Metallia. Y'know, that gadget planet.." He said.

"Hm. How'd you get here? Your parents send you?.." I asked him another question.

"Oh I was kinda a stray cat 4 years ago.. My parents didn't really care about me.
I was alone in the streets and I was a bit of a thief. It was a rainy night where sir Noah found me, I was lying at the ground, weak and hungry. He helped me by covering me with this yellow hoodie and he gave me food.
He then asked me to be a part of this school. I was his first student. Here I am now!"

He explained to me as we walked around. He seems happy.

"So you're a stray cat too.. hehehe." I told him as I laughed.

"Oh. What about you? Where are you from?" Quaza asks me afterwards.

Where.. am I from?..

"Oh I-I Don't really remember.. Mr. Noah told me that I was saved by him from last years event. Y'know, the research facility stuff. I was full of wounds and I was floating around space." I explained.

As we walked, we came across a willow tree. The willow tree had a trunk that has a natural hole in it. The hole was big and dark. I was curious what it is so I asked Star what the willow tree was.

"Oh. Noah said it was a very special tree. He'd come here once in a while and he reads a book out loud while he sits on the grass. After that, he'd throw a flower in the hole, then he leaves." He explains as we look around the tree.

Star and Quaza suddenly sits on the grass together, so I did too.

"To be honest, whenever Star and I go here, we feel a special energy from this tree. We suddenly feel emotional, happy.. It makes us confess.. We always date here.. And somehow, everyone likes it here.. it's like a place we can all connect uwu." Quaza said as he cuddles with Star on the grass.

Yeah. It does give off a weird energy. Makes me wanna hug somebody.

We talk there for a while then we see Lation come to the tree. He took a few mushrooms and some branches with leaves on them.

"Hey Lation! Sorry for yesterday.. Uh.. So what are you doing?" I asked him with a smile.

"...." He looks at me then he goes away.

Oh. Okay then. Keep your secrets.

"Hehe it's probably for his research on medicine or something.." Quaza said as he sat up.

"So he is a doctor.." I said.
Now I know.

"Yeah. He looks pretty edgy and mysterious but he's nice. " Star told me as he was smiling.

"You know, he's the most hardworking guy here. He really tries to reach for his goal. He's been saying that since he got here." Star continued.

"What's his goal?.." I asked him.

"He wants to find a cure to a disease. A deadly disease he says. His patient has that disease, and he's doing everything to cure it." He explains.

"How many people are affected by the disease?.." I asked him again.

"Only one.." He said.

"Oh." I don't have anything to say other that.

"What about you Melt? What's your goal?" They asked me.

My goal?

What is my goal? What is my purpose?..

"I don't know.. " I answered with a sigh.

"Oh. " They sighed with me.

"Hey Punks. What're you doing here?.." Raku comes by looking gangsta and angry as always.

"H-hey uhhh we're just a hanging out here.. Uhh you can take your turn at this place if you want hehehe..?" I said to her as I panicked cuz I just realized we had a fight before and I don't want that to happen again.

"Phssh- I was just looking for Lation that's all. Don't like this place anyway. Cya losers.." She walks away.

"..." we were speechless from fear.

It was a bit awkward so we talked about goals again.

"I want to be a world known engineer. I don't know which world though."
Quaza goes on first.

I didn't know he was becoming an engineer. He must be good at building stuff..

"Hehe it'd better if worlds collide right? You would be famous in two worlds!" Star told him with a smile.

"What about you Star?" I asked him.

"I want to see the universe through the eyes of a machine... I want to feel how it's like to be a machine.. " He said.

That was poetic.

"..Melt. You sure you don't have a goal, or a dream?" Quaza asks..

"No..?" I replied to him, unsure.

Since I don't remember anything, I really don't know what I'm supposed to do. Everything's so sudden.

"Oh it's getting dark.. we should go back" Star said as he stands up.

"Yeah.." I said as I stood up.

As we walked back to our dorm, Quaza suddenly points out something.

"Woah! The tree!" Quaza says out loud as he was impressed for the tree is surrounded by fireflies.

Not just any fireflies, but fireflies with different hues of light. It was absolutely magical to see.

When the fireflies light up the inside part of the willow tree, it became more amazing. It glowed, and exposed the shadows of some branches.

A very amazing sight to see. I will never forget this.
Ever.
