Camila walked down the sidewalk not really knowing where to go or what to do. All she wanted to do was know more about why her family had these old journals.
Why did they have pictures of the founder of the town?
Where could she go to find out more about Henry Luna? The library of course!
The Cuban girl spun on her heel turning around to the direction of the library. Nobody would find her there anyways, Ariana didn't like it because it was too quite. Leo hated it because it was stupid, why not just buy books and have them for a life time? Then rent a book and possibly forget to return it and rack up debt that way. Which wasn't true, well maybe it was.
And Shawn couldn't find her either, why would he be in the library of the north side? It was probably to old school for his taste, did the south side even have a library anymore?
Camila entered the library giving the library a smile. "Can I help you with anything?" She asked the tiny brunette "yeah, where are all the books, journals just anything about Henry Luna." Camila replied "just follow me."
It seemed like nobody really cared about the history of the town. All these books were old and dusty, they were even kept in a box and not even displayed anymore. The journals seemed like they had been untouched for years, maybe even decades.
Camila sat herself at a table in the back of the room, she pulled out the journal from her bag and another from the box. They both seemed pretty similar, once she opened it a picture fell out of the journal she had.
"Who's this?" She asked herself, one was of Henry and next to him a picture of a woman. She turned the old photo over written on it was the name Margaret Falls.
The name sounded so familiar until it hit her, that was the person that came with Henry to this land! She was the so called friend that left him and made the south side of town her own.
Camila flipped through the library's copy of Henry's journal until it stopped. The last entry was of finding the town of Moon Falls. The journal she had kept going.
My dear Margaret,
I have named this land after the both of us. Moon Falls, as we both know my last name means moon in Spanish. But who would come to this land if they knew a Mexican man like me founded it? We both know how strongly people feel about colored folk. I am glad you don't see me definitely. Te quiero.
Love, Henry.
The Cuban sat there in shook, they were way more than friends. They were lovers! She kept reading the journal entries, she was amazed at this love story. It was getting better and better until it just stopped.

She's gone, she has left me for someone else. She has taken the other side of town for herself. How could I be such a fool? I thought she saw me for who I was and not my skin. Margaret, how could you? My heart broke when she told me we couldn't be together anymore. Her parents had found a nice Portuguese man for her to marry,
Lucas Mendes.Mendes as in Shawn Mendes? It couldn't be right? Camila didn't know much about the Mendes boy, but knew enough that he was part Portuguese.

I can no longer live in this town without her, how can I be here when she lives just across from me on the other side? I've decided to go back to my home country, no one will realize. I haven't told anyone else that I created this town, only Margaret knows. If I leave know, maybe no one will ever know.
Maybe it is better this way, I will go back home and change my name so no one will figure out. After my great grandfather Miguel Cabello."That's my last name" she mumbled to herself this couldn't be. She was related to the founder of this town?

As I get ready for my journey back home I wanted to leave a journal here for someone to find. Maybe they can share with the people here and they will learn about my story.
I wrote in another notebook, only the good parts of this trip to the new land. Nothing about Margaret, she can write her own story as the founder of the south side.
I just wanted this place to be somewhere everyone could live in at peace. Nobody would care about who you were or what you did. Someday maybe we will all be together one day, today or not be that day or possibly ever. We are already separated north and south.
Maybe one day I'll see my Margaret again. Maybe we weren't meant to be, maybe one day our ancestors will come to together and have what we never had.Know she knew, the families didn't like each other because of this! But why was everyone so afraid of the two teenagers being together. Were they afraid that this would happen again?
"Excuse the library is about to close" the librarian said, Camila eyes widen looking at the clock. It was already ten pm and she wasn't home yet. "Oh right, can I just borrow these books?"
Camila walked out the library with books in her hands, she was going to be in so much trouble when she got home.
The Cuban finally made it home, she definitely couldn't climb up to her room. She was pretty sure her parents knew she was missing. She decided to go through the back door. "Finally Camila!" Leo shouted seeing his little cousin walk through the door.
"What?" Camila asked "where were you? I've been looking for you!" He almost shouted at her "sorry, I just needed time to myself" The tiny brunette spoke. "Where's mom and dad?" She asked "they went to bed, I told them you had already fallen asleep" Leo told her.
"Then why are you still here?" Camila asked "to talk to you, you haven't been yourself today" The make Cuban said. "I'm fine, you can go home now" she said "Camila."
"I'm fine, I will promise to tell you later okay." She said as he just nodded his head trusting his cousin. He stood up giving her a hug and a kiss on the forehead, she gave his a smile before he left the house.
Camila took a deep breath before sitting down at the kitchen counter. She grabbed the phone dialing a number.
The Canadian boy sat on his bed watching his phone go off. The caller ID read the Cuban's name, Camila. He has to stop himself from answering it, what would she tell him anyways? She was clear about her feelings towards him.
Camila let out a sigh as he didn't answer the phone. She decided she would just leave him a message instead.
"Shawn, I-I don't know what else to say other than I'm sorry. I'm such an idiot, I was upset and let my angry out on you. I thought I had a good reason to tell you those things, but I didn't. And I'm really sorry. I want to tell you something important, that is I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
Camila hung up the phone grabbing her things walking up to her bedroom.
Now Shawn felt bad not answering the call, he sighed laying back down on his bed once the voicemail was over.
What was this girl doing to him?
