15: Invitation

Alyssa was still "a new student", though she was no longer "the new student". And the hidden layers of Dilbert were still hidden from her. But they were slowly showing themselves.

"A YouTube channel? An effing YouTube channel?! This is fucking mad!" Alyssa pulled at her hair in the girls' washroom. She had found out just minutes ago about that channel, which stored all of Dilbert's most memorable and ... not-so-memorable memories. She surfed on her phone.

All she'd wanted was peace. What she was getting was a mess. Nothing but trouble.

The scene from her first day was there. But weirdly enough, throughout the video, everyone's face was visible...except Jason's. His face had been blurred. Jason and his father's argument wasn't there either. Of course that wasn't, after Danver Rios' threat.

But Alyssa was even more shocked to see the other videos. A new girl being bullied in the cafeteria; a couple breaking up; Parker falling on his butt over spilled soda and ending up half-crying, half-laughing; Jaden messing up one of his football matches by punching a guy until he was beaten to a pulp; a masked person doing a paint job of vulgar visuals on the wall...

By the time Alyssa had exitted the washroom, she'd missed her English class. Amiya would probably be wondering where she'd gone off to. But Alyssa was feeling sick to her stomach. Did they really have to create a memory of someone's worse, most humiliating moments? Make fun of them?

And the comments were even worse! Those were humans. Apparently, bullying had no end.

She slipped out of the school, walking across the lawn to the parking lot. Like hell she would face these people again anytime soon! She couldn't. If her past got out, only Heavens knew how big a news it would be for those people.

She had a good mind of ditching all her classes that day.

She leaned against her Challenger, rubbing her temple. She was getting a light headache. Alyssa saw Majorica approaching. She was a nice girl, and her sister Tanya, who was even nicer, was one of Alyssa's newest acquaintances.

"Hey!" Majorica waved at her. "Ditching?"

Alyssa shrugged. "Same as you, I guess?"

Majorica beamed at her. This girl literally had no troubles in life. She was always beaming. Alyssa wondered how nice it would've been if she could just have rewinded her whole life. Removed all the sad parts. Then she would've smiled like that, too.

Majorica contemplated her for a few minutes, before smiling again and asking, "Hey, we're having a girls sleepover-slash-part tomorrow. I'm inviting you!"

Alyssa looked at her in surprise. "Me?"

"Yup! We're friends, right? I invited Basil too! Your other friends are busy, I suppose," she said, twirling a lock of her brown hair around her finger.

"But it's school night."

"So? Don't worry, you'll be fine. You'll be with us."

Alyssa was about to say 'no'. Who the hell had sleepovers on school nights? But then again, she was trying really hard to fit in. Especially after seeing that YouTube channel, she must gain friends. At least they would be her pillars. "Um, okay. Thanks for inviting."

"Awesome!" Majorica clapped, smiling even wider.

They exchanged numbers and Majorica gave Alyssa her address.

No matter how rowdy she'd been before, she'd never attended sleepovers. She had had strict curfews.

"Well," Alyssa thought. "That should be fun." No one would tell her anything even if she did come home late, after all...

When Alyssa told her friends about the sleepover, they hadn't been so keen on her going. But once they heard that Basil was going too, they nodded off with a warning to be careful.

"I would prefer you didn't go," Tarlos had still said skeptically. "I don't like those girls."

But surprisingly, Basil defended them, "Majorica and Tanya are amazing. They're responsible people. So don't worry, we'll be fine."

A/N:- Hm... do you think this sleepover is a good idea? Who do you think is right -  Basil or Tarlos?

Only time will tell.
