Back home, Alyssa didn't know what to make of the whole story. Jason had, as expected, been dissatisfied that Alyssa had sought out Chris instead of asking him directly. But he did vouch for the truth of Chris' words. However, he refused to reveal any further himself.

He seemed quite distressed by the turn of events, and Alyssa couldn't feel more guilty. True, even though she was very curious and concerned, she wasn't owed any explanations regarding his life. She did trust him, but she couldn't help the itch in the back of her mind saying that she was dating someone she knew absolutely nothing about.

When she decided to meet Chris, she hadn't expected such a big back story. But now it had been said and done with, and she could not help it - the more Jason hid, the more her mind conjured up possibilities and the suspicions grew.

Two days had gone by without a word from Jason. His phone had been switched off so there was no way to contact him either. Alyssa was worried sick, but her guilt conscious stopped her from going out of her way to reach out to him. She couldn't help feeling that maybe he didn't wish to talk to her anymore after that day.

As she sat on the couch, reminiscing about their past and her tangled emotions, their home phone suddenly rang up. Alyssa sighed before picking it up, considering the absence of the other members of the family.

"Good afternoon, Mam," one of the security guards from downstairs said in a curt voice. "A certain Jaden Smith requests your presence."

Shocked, Alyssa jumped up from the couch. Jaden? No way, why would he come so far without a single notice? Alyssa sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. Alright, she shouldn't be hasty in placing theories. Quickly writing a note about her absence, Alyssa made her way downstairs. Her mind was scattered to say the least. She wasn't even noticing where she was going, but that wasn't really a surprise. She highly doubted she would feel at peace again until she heard back from Jason.

When the elevator doors finally slid open, Alyssa immediately looked around the waiting room only to find Jason waiting for her. No wonder, since she herself had called him Jaden in front of Chris that day.

She couldn't help the sigh of nervousness and relief that escaped her as soon as she caught glimpse of him. Her heart thudded loudly, as she silently approached him.

Seeing Alyssa, Jason got up, his arms winding around her body in a warm hug. Alyssa blushed, lightly touching his back. Their relationship sure wasn't filled with heated touches and moments, but these small acts of affection was what made Jason even more special to her.

"Finally remembering my existence, huh," Alyssa whimpered into his chest, basking in the familiar warmth that she had missed for so long.

"Sorry," he groaned, as if he was the one in pain and not her. "I was grounded."

"Why?" Alyssa asked, pulling back as she looked up at him with a surprised expression.

"For going out without Dad's permission," he sighed, his eyes twitching as he recalled what had happened. "He's paranoid, for real! I can't blame him but still, goddamnit, I'm an adult for fuck's sake."

Alyssa's lips twitched as she bit in her laughter. "So what brings you here today, my prodigal darling?"

Jason's cheeks flushed a little at the endearment, but soon cooled down again as he said with a serious tone. "I need to take you somewhere before j return to Mel's Town. It's urgent, so are you free now?"

Looking a little confused at his sudden request, Alyssa nodded in agreement, dismissing the thought that Fiona was probably going to scold her well and good when she returned. "I will leave Fiona a message. Where are we going?"

"Home," was the only reply he gave.

Jason's house was a mere fifteen minutes away from their apartment. To Alyssa's surprise, a modest house, quite different from the extravagant one in Mel's Town awaited her. It was a simple two storeyed town-house, well furnished, neat and white-washed from the outside. It was like one of the simple country houses where elderly couples lived their lives in peace after retirement.

Alyssa curiously looked around as they entered. The interiors were light grey, modern and the house only seemed to have a few chosen furniture. It covered a big area but most of it was rather vacant.

"Where's your room?" Alyssa asked, excited to have a look.

"Upstairs," he said, that silent seriousness still tangible in his voice. "But we won't be going there now. Come on."

Jason beckoned to her as they climbed the stairs. The second floor had another smaller seating room, which led to three separate doors. Jason brought her towards one to the left. It was only then that Jason told her why they were there.

"I'm sorry for not telling you earlier, but you don't have to worry much. We're meeting my father."
