Karson started speaking. "So, basically, this guy over here seems to think that –"

Jason let out an almost inhuman growl. "Shut the fuck up before I seal your mouth myself!"

Alyssa's cold eyes met his angry ones. "I wasn't asking you."

"What's it to you why we fought? It's a matter between ourselves!" Jason bit out, seeming defensive.

Karson snorted in half-amusement, half-sarcasm. He murmured to himself, "Yeah right."

Mia intervened before they could start fighting again. "Alyssa, trust me, you don't want to know what they were fighting over. "

"Oh, so they were fighting over something and not about it."

"Um..." Mia mumbled, evidently just realizing her slip.

"Tell me," Alyssa prodded.

"He hit me because I was close to –" Karson blurted out, hoping to finish the sentence before Jason could stop him. But he was immediately pinned to the bed, with Jason's fist hovering over his face. "I told you to shut the fuck up!" he shouted.

Jaden had to pry Jason's hands away from Karson's collar. He placed his hands on Jason's shoulders. "Calm down, Jase. Don't mess things up."

"I was just saying the truth!" Karson spat out hatefully. "And I'm not afraid of the truth, unlike you!"

Alyssa stood frozen near the doorway as she watched ... and heard.

"I'm not afraid of the truth!" Jason hissed out, his face livid with anger.

"You are. Because the truth is, she likes me and will continue to like me, more than she can ever like you," he said calmly, confidently.

And that was the final trigger Jason needed. Immediately, he was outside Jaden's grip and onto Karson like a wolf after its prey. His fist came hurtling towards Karson's face, and for a second there, everything was a blur.

Alyssa's eyes widened in horror. "Oh my goodness, stop! Stop!" she shouted, afraid to approach. She could almost feel the tears in her eyes. Shit. The world was definitely going shitty and crazy on her, and it was too much. Too much...

"Stop it, man!" Jaden tried to separate them, but it went in vain. By then, Karson had found a loophole in Jason's attack. He hooked his legs under Jason's, and twisted it, making Jason's hold on him loose.

Jaden managed to take opportunity to pull Jason away from him.

"What the fuck!" Karson bellowed as soon as Jason was off him. "This guy is crazy, I tell you, Liz! You would do better to stay clear off him!" His voice was shaking with rage. Rage, that was all that Alyssa saw in his face. But her eyes wouldn't refuse leave Jason.

"Why are you saying this to me?" she asked, her eyes still fixed on Jason's face. Somewhere within her, she felt a dull thud as she saw the broken expression on his handsome face. Karson did not answer, and Alyssa didn't care to repeat.

Vulnerability was stark clear on Jason's face. He was like a broken piece of art, initially so beautiful, but shattered to pieces. His eyes were glassy. Yet, he tried to stifle all his feelings inside the chiselled, human-like alabaster that he seemed to be. On the verge of breaking down... or maybe he already had broken down.

Why?

All this time that Alyssa had known Jason as the 'crabby, arrogant and too violent jerk'.

What could have made him lose control over himself in this manner?

Sure, the first time Alyssa had seen Jason, he had been fighting. But that had been different. Back then, he had been completely  in control. He knew what he was doing, and he did it because he wanted to. That had been obvious. His heart had been as cold as his exterior.

But here, his heart looked bare, like a transparent and breakable glass piece.

Here, he was losing control ... exploding.

Why?

Alyssa leaned against the wall, suddenly tired. She couldn't look at his tear-stained, heart-breaking face anymore.

A/n:- Ouch. What do you think Liz/Jason are gonna do now? What r ur thoughts on Karson?
