Harry took a deep breath and placed his hand on the door knob of his classroom, unsure of whether or not to go inside or stay out here to catch his breath. Since Liam left him alone in the cafeteria, he was forced to find his next class without any help at all, which was difficult because this school was huge. He suddenly understood why Niall disliked the guy so much, he was really rude.
After gathering enough courage, Harry walked into his classroom without making eye contact and took his time to find a seat all the way in the back, not really worrying about if he'll be able to see or not. He sat down in his chair and looked up so that he could see what the teacher was talking about, immediately being distracted by a light tap on his shoulder.
Directly next to him sat Niall Horan, who had the biggest smile on his face, and he nudged Harry while leaning over and whispering. "Hello, you're a little late. What happened?"
"Liam decided to leave me alone in the cafeteria after I met Louis and Zayn. You know them right?" asked Harry with a raised eyebrow, hoping that Niall knew more about Louis than Zayn.
"Yeah, Louis' my best friend. Zayn is his annoying ass boyfriend who's literally good for nothing." explained Niall with a shrug of his shoulders, putting on a fake grin when he saw the teacher give him a death glare before speaking again. "Anyways, Louis is like a brother to me, and I care about him a lot."
"What's so bad about Zayn? He seems like a chill guy, except for the disappearing act he did with Liam made me think otherwise." said Harry as he took notes, knowing that in his bones that he was lying. He didn't think that Zayn was a chill guy at all and wanted to attack him when he touched Louis, but he didn't know the reason why he felt this way.
"Zayn is just very-" Niall trailed off while looking for a word to use, humming when he finally thought of one. "Assholish. He just doesn't deserve someone as great as Louis, and that's the truth."
"You know what's weird? I feel like I've seen Louis from somewhere, like I knew him for almost forever."
Niall gave Harry a look that he couldn't quite describe before speaking again, tapping his pencil on top of his desk. "Louis has that effect on people."
"No, it's like..." Harry tried to put his words together, but he was suddenly zoning out just to focus on how Louis looked. Those blue eyes have been floating in his mind ever since he first saw them, and Harry wondered why he felt like jumping into them as if they were pools. The way he laughed made Harry's heart hurt, and he wished that he didn't feel so hang over someone he just met.
"You totally like Louis, don't you?" questioned Niall with expectant eyes, watching as Harry's cheeks burned bright red from this accusation. Did he like Louis? Nah, it was just lust at first sight Harry was obsessing over, not actually Louis.
"He has a boyfriend, Niall."
"Yeah, and not a very good one. Plus, that is not what I asked."
"What are you suggesting if I do?"
Niall wiggled his eyebrows and nearly snorted under his breath, looking over at Harry as if he knew something he didn't. "I think we all know what I'm suggesting."
"Are you suggesting that I steal someone's boyfriend? I don't know, I'm not much of a fighter." responded Harry uneasily, going silent when the teacher looked their way yet again with squinted eyes.
"You don't have to fight, idiot. You just have to use your skills, you know?"
"Fighting skills? I just said-"
"No, oh my goodness, your charming skills."
Harry felt like laughing directly into Niall's face at what he just said, knowing the he couldn't charm anyone to save his pathetic life. Whenever he tried this, he always spoke awkwardly and ended up making the other person run away from him. He didn't believe he had the looks to charm people neither, and so that was also a big problem. "My charming skills?"
Niall huffed and tossed his pencil onto the desk directly in front of Harry's before looking away nonchalantly as if he didn't do it, leaving Harry with wide eyes in his seat. The girl that occupied the desk in front of Harry turned around with a glare and the pencil clutched in her hand, her expression suddenly softening when they met eyes.
"You dropped your pencil." she said in a low tone, and Harry shifted uncomfortably in his seat when he heard Niall snort from next to him at the situation he found himself in. She held the pencil directly in front of the spilling of her cleavage and was smirking, the look never leaving as Harry hesitantly grabbed it.
"Uh, thank you."
"I'm Raven by the way." said the girl while winking, but it looked more like she was about to have a seizure instead of trying to flirt. Harry was starting to feel okay about the way his charming skills worked in comparison to Raven's.
Harry pursed his lips and nodded as she turned back around, shooting Niall a look of annoyance as he covered his mouth to stop from laughing. "Thanks, Niall. I really needed that."
"Well, now you know that you have charming skills. Isn't that great?" stated Niall playfully, but Harry felt like wrapping his hands around the blonde boy's neck.
"I won't need them because I am not stealing anyone's boyfriend, so shove that lesson down your throat."
. . .
Harry was thinking about taking up Niall's suggestion as he sat in math class with his fist underneath his chin while in a daze. Louis was sitting in the desk directly in front of his own, and he couldn't help but think about the perfect structure of his face and the way he spoke in the most intellectual voice whenever he answered a question.
He couldn't even believe that he was feeling whipped over a guy that he possibly just met, who also had a boyfriend that looked like he could bash Harry's face in. Yeah, the first day of college was going pretty well if you switch around the context and squint.
Harry was in the middle of thinking about how sharp Louis' cheekbones were when he heard his name being called by the teacher, who was standing in front of the room with her hands on her hips while staring at him.
"Excuse me, what?" asked Harry quickly, feeling ten times small as the teacher glared at him and pointed towards a problem on the board.
"What formula are we using to solve this method, Harry? Since you seem to be so focused on the lesson."
But I'm not? "Uh, I think it's- um."
Suddenly, Louis jumped in with a forced smile on his face directed at the teacher, clasping his hands together. "I do believe that we shouldn't spring this lesson on Harry too quickly, Ms.Dick."
The teacher blinked and cleared her throat uncomfortably as if being told what to do by Louis was the worst feeling in the world, which probably was, before nodding and going back to writing more problems on the board. Harry stared at Louis and hoped that he'd notice, but the boy wouldn't turn around.
All throughout the class, he thought about how Louis stood up for him, and the feeling felt wonderful.
