"There's been an escape."

I can feel my face pale at General Ross' words, but try to keep a nonchalant stance.

"Well, s**t."

Ross continues.

"I hope you do realize that you should take full responsibility. After all, this was  your team."

The Avengers aren't, well, the Avengers we used to be.

"Well, I mean, technically, this is your prison, so shouldn't I be the one getting pissed because  you let my prisoners escape?" I retort.

Ross sighs, as if it's a burden to deal with me. In fact, he should be honored to even talk with me.

Suddenly,  my mind reels back to the conversation me and Romanoff had a while ago.

"Aren't you capable of letting go of your goddamn ego for one second?"
