Sweat Treat

The next morning, after Clouse's little surprise visit last night, everybody was one edge. None of them would leave Jay in his own for more than a minute. They were all so worried that something might happen to him if they took their eyes off him.

Jay was especially on edge. He was hugging onto Mr. Cuddlywump like his life depended on it and always refused to be left alone.

"Please don't go!" Jay pleaded with Nya, Cole, and the other ninja as they headed towards to door.

"It's okay Jay, Zane will be here with you." Cole explained as he hugged Jay. "And we'll be back home before you know it."

"But what if the scary ghost comes back?" Jay asked them.

"Then I will protect you." Zane said, picking up Jay.

"Bye, Jay, stay safe." Nya said, kissed Jay on the cheek, and shut the door to the temple.

Jay looked at Zane for a moment and said, "You promise you'll protect me?"

Zane gave a reassuring smiled and said, "Yes, I promise I will protect you." That was all it took for Jay to trust Zane.

For the rest of the day, Jay and Zane did all kinds of fun stuff. They played border games, played hide-and-go-seek, and Jay especially loved helping Zane with repairs to some of the vehicles.

Then, when dinner time rolled around, Zane knew he had to leave Jay unattended. He didn't want Jay in the kitchen where he could get hurt while Zane was distracted. So he put on a tv show for him to watch while he made everyone dinner tonight.

Zane looked at the clock in the living room before he started cooking. It read 6:00 pm, so he had a little more than two hours to make dinner for the others.

He quickly got to work in making lasagna for them, and hoped that the others were successful today in finding a spell to fix their "young" friend.

Zane was so busy making dinner he didn't even think about Jay. Little did he know, his friend grew bored of watching tv and decided to look around the temple.

Jay wondered into the only door that was open... Lloyd's room. He walked inside to see a lot of green. He wondered around and found a collection of comic books. He looked through a few of them but decided to come back to them later.

Jay then walked closer to the bed and found a small bag. He opened it to find it was full of candy.

"Yay!" Jay yelled, and got a sucker out and started licking it.

Zane heard Jay's small yell and was afraid that Clouse was trying to get him again. He quickly abandoned what he was doing and ran up the stairs to where he heard Jay. He opened the door to Lloyd's room, and found Jay licking a sucker from Lloyd's "secret" stash.

He couldn't help but smile. It looked like Jay had finally calmed down after being scared by Clouse. But as happy as Jay was right now, Zane knew he had to take away the sucker so Jay didn't spoil his appetite before dinner.

"Jay, you should not be eating that sucker, you will spoil your dinner." Zane said, trying to get Jay to do it willing.

"But that'll take forever." Jay said, still sucking on the sucker that Zane was trying to take away.

"It won't be long." Zane said, still trying to get the sucker from Jay. Then an idea came to him. "And if you give me the sucker, then we will have ice cream after dinner."

That was enough for jay to hand over the sweet treat over to Zane, who threw it in the trash can that Lloyd kept in his room. He then picked up Jay and carried him back downstairs.

He sat him in the living room for a few minutes and went back to put the lasagna in the oven. When he got back, Jay was gone again.

'This is getting ridiculous.' Zane thought to himself as he started to look around for Jay, again.

He checked all of downstairs but found no sign of Jay. He then went back upstairs and checked all the rooms – he checked Lloyd's room first to make sure Jay didn't get into his stash of candy again. And even after searching upstairs, he still didn't find him.

Zane was now getting a little worried again. 'What if Clouse took Jay while I was in the kitchen!' Zane thought to himself.

Just as he was just about to call the others when he heard a small giggle from outside. He curiously walked outside, and saw Jay playing by himself.

Jay saw him and waved. "Hi Zane!" He called over to him.

Zane marched right up Jay, took his hand, and pulled him back into the temple. He wasn't angry at Jay, but he wasn't happy with him either.

"Jay, you should not be playing outside by yourself." Zane said in his usual calm voice.

"I'm sorry Zane," Jay said and gave Zane a pair of sad eyes. "I just wanted to have fun."

The Nindroid put and hand on Jay's shoulder and said, "Do not feel bad, Jay. I know you were just bored and looking for fun, but you can not just simply wonder off."

"Okay, I won't do it again." Jay said, and gave Zane a reassuring smile.

Zane returned the smile, and just as he was about to walk back into the kitchen to get his lasagna out of the oven, the other ninja got home.

After that, Zane for his lasagna out of the oven and it was dinner time. Then, after dinner, and as promised, Zane served everyone ice cream. They all enjoyed their sweet treat for the day.
