November 15th
07:33 am

I felt something tear at my conscience, leaving me wondering what wanted me to leave my comfortable slumber. Groaning, I turned around, still feeling an ache close to my stomach. As my mind gradually organized itself, I sensed warmth shining down on me. Light was enveloping me, as I tried to open my eyes. I had been shot by Connor, that much I remembered. Yet what happened to him afterwards? I obviously passed out, seeing as I did only spot darkness swallowing my memories after the fall onto the snowy ground. I sighed, eventually able to fully enable my orbs to meet the sunlight.

My head rested on a soft pillow, as the smell of disinfectants entered my nose. I grumbled, trying to sit up, surprisingly finding out that such an action was possible. White walls surrounded me in this empty room. I instantly recognized it to be part of a hospital, which was not extraordinary at all considering my state. Laboriously, I stared down at my body, seeing a grey shirt covering my skin. I moderately moved my fingers, lifting the cloth partly up to face a rather large suture at my left side. Pressing my lips into a thin line, I let the fairly rough material go, delicately laying back in my bed again. What day was it? What did I miss so far? In the background I heard footsteps approaching, causing my head to perk up.

As the door opened, I yearned to see Connor there, yet I was quickly disappointed. An android nurse looked back at me, her eyes wide open. "Ah, I see you are awake miss (L/N). How are you feeling?" She slowly neared me, hence I sat up more straightly. "I am actually quite all right. Could you please tell me what day today is though? And when will I be released?" I quickly covered my mouth with one hand to stop any further question from stumbling outside. The female android weakly chuckled, whereas I sheepishly smiled. "It is November the 15th. If all the tests go well, we might already let you go tomorrow morning." I nodded. So merely three days had passed since the deviant's victory. I felt relieved, knowing that my body appeared to heal as fast as always. I was about to ask if someone had come to visit me in the past few days, when the door was opened another time. Realizing who had just entered, I immediately beamed.

The nurse turned around, seemingly recognizing the man. "Oh, you are miss (L/N)'s partner, are you not?" The brown haired male nodded, unable to keep the smile to himself. "All right, seeing how she woke up a few seconds ago, I will get her some of her medicine. Meanwhile, you can talk to her." With a short bow, the female nurse left. My eyes had been focused on my partner this whole time, my heart automatically beating faster. "I am glad to see you with your eyes open again, (Y/N)." I replied with a faint giggle, patting the spot next to me on the bed. The brown haired male didn't hesitate to approach me and instead of sitting down, he gently hugged me, careful as not to touch my stitches. "I missed you Connor," I whispered, taking in his scent. The android gingerly caressed my back, responding, "Me too."

We stayed like this until the nurse entered once more, handing me a glass of water and a pill. "I hate to interrupt your visiting time but we will have to check your health now." Turning to Connor, who still tightly held my hand, she said, "If everything goes according to plan, miss (L/N) will be released tomorrow morning. We will contact you then so you can pick her up." My partner nodded, shooting another gaze in my direction. "I will see you later then." Squeezing my hand once more, he gently let it go and left the room. Afterwards, I felt kind of sad that our time had been that limited but knowing I would soon again be in his arms, I obediently followed through all the check-up's of the day.

. . .

It was 8 am, as I patiently waited in the lobby, hoping Connor would soon arrive. My heart wouldn't stop bothering me with the wish to be by his side again, even though I had to admit that I treasured that desire. I stared at the clock at a far away wall, as I sensed someone inching closer. Turning around, I found Connor holding a bouquet of (F/F). I was baffled for a moment but then happily smiled. "Good morning (Y/N). I hope you are feeling better today." He softly embraced my body and then handed me the flowers. I picked up their fragrance, feeling contented. This day had already started off wonderfully. Connor once more grabbed my hand and we left the hospital together.

Outside, I was greeted by a cold breeze, causing me to slightly shiver. As my partner led me over to a car, I glanced around, seeing several androids on the street. No humans were there to command them around, apparently, the government had settled things rapidly for once. Carefully I entered the vehicle at the same time as Connor, whereas he soon started the engine. "Is it all right if we head for your apartment? I'm sure you'd like to return home after such a long time," he asked me with a genuine smile on his face. I held back a rather corny line about my home being where he was, since I felt that overjoyed and alternatively nodded.

. . .

We arrived at my apartment, as I searched for the keys in my pockets. After having unlocked the door, we both entered and I absorbed the familiar scent. It felt as if I hadn't been here for an eternity. Connor and I sat down in the living room, silently looking at each other for some time. Then, he apologetically admitted, "I am extremely sorry for what I have done to you (Y/N). Back there on the container, CyberLife somehow managed to get a hold of me another time and in the end I shot you. This... Guilt I feel is horrible, really. I don't know whether it is of any help but I honestly promise that I never intended to hurt you. I am still unsure of how to make up for his to you, so I was hoping you could give me a hint." He had lowered his head, making me realize how much this whole incident pained him.

I exhaled, got up and walked over to Connor, kneeling down in front of him. "Don't worry, I know it was not what you wanted. I could see you fighting it. Frankly, stepping in front of you to lessen the damage done was my intention though. I knew that if you had shot Markus, there would be fatal consequences. So please, don't let this guilt haunt you forever." I grasped his hands, my thumb slowly moving over his skin. "If you would just keep staying with me, I would be more than delighted," I added, facing Connor again. He simply stared back at me for a second, before promptly tearing my body closer to his own. As I buried my head in the crook of his neck, he answered, "Of course I will stay. You gave me a new reason to live. You let me discover what I was capable of feeling. (Y/N) I would be a fool to let you go." With a smirk, he pulled me away, cupping my right cheek with one of his hands. Nonplussed by his sudden confident actions, I could not help but faintly blush, as Connor softly brought my face closer to his own. Then ,our lips met once more, the sensation still overwhelming me as much as the first time we had kissed.

His warmth enveloping me was breathtaking, making my heart feel as if it was about to jump out of my chest. His mindful and mild touch made me feel like melting right there in his arms, as I moved my hands around his neck, eventually sitting on top of his lap. His fingers found their way to my waist, cautiously pulling me even closer, always looking out for my wound. Connor let me feel treasured, precious actually. After all the misfortune in my life, I had ended up at a point, where a purpose finally emitted from the fog surrounding me. I wished to spend the rest of my time with this man, fully give myself to him and completely capturing him at the same time. Desire I had never imaged to wake up inside me, truly did turn out to exist. My former attachment to justice as a reason to keep living was not needed anymore. Instead, I had thrown that incredibly vague concept away, taking a hold of something worth focusing on. I had an actual dream again. To enjoy life for what it was now. No matter how many rainy days had tainted my past, at the end of the day, sunlight would surely illuminate the world. I had learned that we all had a purpose guiding us. Not only humans but androids as well. They had discovered their aspiration too. Everyone deserved to make the best out of their lives. One simply had to pull through the horrendous moments and ultimately would arrive in a better place.
