Searching For You:
"We are walking in circles!" Olithir shouted stopping dead in his tracks and slashing a tree with his sword. It had been a day since Kaylessa was kidnapped and now they were lost and had been lost for at least half an hour.
"Calm down, that rocks new, is it not?" Ulelesse asked pointing to a very circle looking rock. Much more circler than any other rock they had ever seen.
"No we past it last time" Olithir was at his breaking point, this was hopeless. "They must know we were following them and covered their tracks."
"Well of course they knew and of course they cover their tracks, the point is to know where their tracks were before they covered them"
"Right and I suppose you know where they were, do you?"
"We haven't really been looking have we? We have just been wondering around this forest, aimlessly because you said they went that way and then took us in perfect circle!" Ulelesse was so tired. They hadn't stopped walking since they left the others and hadn't eaten or drank either. She walked over to the rock and picked it up, it was surprising light and smooth. It was about the same size as a bowl and she tossed it from one had to the next and put her ear to it and shock it, then hit her hand against it. It was hollow. A hollow rock? Who ever heard of such a thing? She passed it to Olithir,
"Are you sure you've seen this rock before?" she asked again, for she didn't remember it.
"All the rocks look the bloody same" how he managed to shout and scream he didn't know, he was amazed that he had the strength to keep on walking.
"No, this ones hollow. Throw it" she said. "Throw it at the ground as hard as you can!"
After a questioning glance, he obeyed, the rock split in two.
"There you go" she said stopping down, "It's an orc food Didn't Avice say there was an Orc, that the Orc took Kaylessa? Well, now we know, they went this way!"
It's amazing how much strength you can master even when you are tired or thirsty or hungry when you get the slightest glimmer of hope. They picked up the Orc food, which had been hidden in the rock. Orcs hid their valuables, be it stolen good, food or even weapons in Orc made rocks so that if they are dropped along the road, no one would think about looking in them. It was only old, dry bread but it was better than nothing and after that they found that they had must more strength to carry on with. They ran and ran, there was no stopping now, only when they found the Orc and Kaylessa, they had to stop. For where he took her, there was no entering for sure. It was forbidden. It was ancient ruins of a once great castle, destroyed by Galdar before his fall. That must be the base of all his evil doing, where he had been hiding all these years. No one ever dared to tread there, not only because just setting your eyes on it will fill anyone with despair and hopelessness but because it was said to be curses and anyone who set foot there was also cursed forever, what the curse was no dared to find out.
"We'll have to risk it" Ulelesse whispered, keeping their voices low so as not to be over heard.
"I suppose so" Olithir answered, slowly they looked around them and got up.
Zlog and Kaylessa had disappeared into the surrounding fog. Olithir and Ulelesse held hands to be sure that they were separated. The fog had a horrible smell and was so thick you could hardly see who was next to you but oddly they felt like they were being pushed and pulled in every direction and they were no longer sure of which way it was that they were meant to be going. Left, right, forwards, back.
"It is only a confusion spell" Ulelesse whispered in the fog. "We have to go forward but the fogs fumes confuse us and make us so unsure of ourselves that we go back, it's a protection spell, genius really."
"Can we praise the evil when we have Kaylessa back?" Olithir asked, pulling Ulelesse forward. Soon enough they were out of the fog and looking back, they could see the forest, from which they came. As if the fog wasn't there at all, like it was only their imaginations.
"Amazing" Ulelesse said again, following Olithir as he carried on, searching for Kaylessa.
They didn't call her name, for that would be suicide for sure, they crept around, keeping to the walls and shadows.
Kaylessa was only just starting to wake, slowly, her mind came alive again and then her eyes opened. She was being carried over the back of someones shoulder. She looked at the ground underneath her. It was muddy and nothing seemed to be growing from it, anything that tried died instantly. The air was thick and heavy, as if wanted to suffocate you. She started kicking and punching trying to free herself. She couldn't see who was holding her but she didn't care who it was, she wanted to be let go. Zlog, who was holding her, held so tightly that it was hard for her to move at all. He meet up with a few other orcs and a some humans, he dropped the girl in front of them, and told them the story. Kaylessa's heart was beating faster than it had ever been beating before, she was sure she was going to have a heart attack. He showed the blade with pride and laughed in the elven girls face. She tried not cry and made it look as if she was not afraid them, even though she was.
"I am not afraid of you, evil doers!" She said, failing to keep her voice from shaking.
She closed her eyes in shame and collected her self.
"Fool!" Shouted one human, getting down on his knees to talk to the girl laying on the dirty, hard floor. "You do not need to fear us for us to kill you."
"Why haven't you killed me already?"
"When we get an elf alone, we drink it's blood and become immortal" said another orc.
"Then you are the fool. If I were mortal my last wish would be to live forever" Kaylessa told them. Closing her eyes to await her death as they put the undead blade at her throat.
The blade hit the floor, clanging loudly. Zlog was dead. An arrow between his eyes. Another one took the blade and drew it right into Kaylessa heart, she screamed. A light flashed and all was still. Galdar's followers vanished and Kaylessa lay lifeless on the floor. Ulelesse and Olithir ran over to her, he put a hand on her cheek but drew it back straight away. It was burning hot. Her face no longer pale but red.
"I want to touch her and hold her, my hands cannot stand to touch her skin... What are we to do with her now. She cannot be dead, no one dead will burn so hot" he hung his head, looking into her face. It was even more beautiful when she was sleeping.
"We will get her help" Ulelesse kept her face stern and unemotional even thought inside her she was screaming in pain at the lose of a friend. "We will take her to nearest kingdom, someone there will know what to do."
"No human kingdom can sort a problem like this one. We will have to take her to an elven one, it's the only way. And fast!"
