A Necromancer And A Dragon Queen:
Avice and Laosx had arrived at the castle. The battle had not yet begun but on the top of the highest tower at the castle you could see Galdar and his army coming their way. They were still a day away but that was no comfort. They would defently be there by noon the next day. Avice had spoken to almost everyone at the castle in the that day that they arrived and introduced them to Laosx. The elven knights that were sent out by the elven Queen and King; Nuala and Tamnaeuth. Laosx hung around mostly with them and talked about the ultracivilized ways of humans. He was, of course, nice to Avice and expressed that she was a friend of his and even Queen Nuala and King Tamnaeuth had agreed that she was welcome among the elves. They had orders to help the humans but not orders to get along with them. Avice had tried to explain many things about the humans ways to the elves but they didn't seem to understand. Elves only have two meals a day. That is their breakfast and their dinner. (Known to elves as morning and evening meal.) She had to explain that humans, because they do more physically with their bodies than mentally (as the elves do more mentally than physically they do not need food for energy) they needed a meal in the middle of the day, lunch, to keep them going so they can move around and things. Laosx, having traveled with Avice, was more aware and more accepting of the human culture than the other elves were but they accepted Avice as one of their own and did their best to respect the other humans as well.
Many humans had tried to convince Avice not to take part in the battle, for not only was she a lady but a child. She told everyone who mentioned it that there was no talking her out of it. She was going to be in the battle and fighting for Canondial whether they liked it or not, so they stopped talking about it .She often wondered how Ulelesse and Olithir were getting on. She missed Ulelesse. Of course she was worried about Kaylessa, was she okay, did they find her? How would Olithir react if she wasn't okay or they could not find her. She wish there was a way to know. She spent most of her days passing from one end of the castle to the other, bitting her lip and wringing her hands. Muttering to herself. She had taken to practicing with her sword on a few of the other knights. They were limiting their meals so that they could send some down into the room in which they were to hide all the women and children and the injured.
"Relax, Avice, I'm sure they are fine. They will be along tomorrow, you watch" Laosx told her with a smile. It was faked and forced, he himself did not believe and he was losing his hope too. But as a knight his duty was to never show his loss of hope and to encourage hope in others.
Olithir, Ulelesse and Kaylessa were not, in fact, okay, or even close to getting to the castle. Olithir was strict about taking her back to the elven castle for treating. He did not believe that humans could do anything about her condition. She was out cold but she had a fever and no matter what she would not wake. Her heartbeat and pulse were weak, she was sweating but other than that remained motionless. They were hungry and thirsty and tired but he refused to stop and rest until Kaylessa was being tended too by someone he could trust. They tried everything they could think of but she never even stirred. They were told that the blade had affects on people if it was not used properly. It was used to kill someone who was not already dead, and that was how it was meant to be used. It killed the orc, which was good but it had done something to Kaylessa and that was not good.
