Battling The Enemy:
It was time. Olithir walked over to the sleeping beauty that was Kaylessa and shock her gently, waking her up. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at him, she couldn't believe her eyes.
"Olithir?" she asked.
He nodded and she threw her arms around his neck. She was so happy to see him again. She pulled away and checked herself, embarrassed that she might have given herself away, he smiled at her and pulled her close, catching her lips in his. She was taken aback by it but accepted it. The kiss said more than any words in his head could. They pulled apart and suited up. Weapons ready. The elves had never been on dragons before but the two witches told them to basics.
"Hold on, do not let go. Do not make it angry and get off as soon as you land!"
They were all shaking, they were all in fear but they were ready, or so they thought and said. It was a long ride, even with dragons which were faster than horses. They arrived but the battle was already going on, they got off the dragons when they were only a few inches from the ground, they rushed in, shooting arrows and slashing with swords. The two witches using magic and the dragons set things alight. Ulelesse couldn't find Avice anywhere. She looked everywhere but couldn't see a thing. The flames, the people. Everything was so fast and too much.
There was so much blood, so much shouting, so much screaming. They were losing. Kaylessa had the blade, it was up too her to do something about it. Where was Galdar? There he was, on top of the east tower.
"Kaylessa, up there!" Ulelesse pointed. Then turned to someone else, "where is the girl? Yellow eyes, young?"
"Infirmary!" an elf shouted back at her. Slashing one of the bad guys. "I'll cover you!"
"Thanks!" And so, slashing and stabbing their way through the crowd the elf guided Ulelesse to the castle entrance and she went in, making her way through it, looking for Avice. She stabbed two of Galdar's follows who were in there. She throw herself into the infirmary and looked around three times, turning her head so fast that she missed Avice every time.
"Ulelesse?" came the voice she needed to her so bad she almost cried at the sound.
"Avice!" She ran to her side.
"Idiot stabbed my shoulder. I cannot move my arm anymore"
"I'm so sorry I got you into this"
"I'm glad you did, otherwise, we never would have happened."
There was no discussion. Avice was going back out to war. She was ready in seconds. If she holds the shield with the broken arm, she can use her good arm to fight.
"Just incase I don't get another chance, I love you" Ulelesse looked at the floor, Avice lifted Ulelesse head up with her hand under her chin and kissed her.
"I love you too" she replied.
"Sinners" came the voice of a few others.
"Would a sinner fight to save the world they live in? Or the women they love? No. What's a bigger sin, my love or your hate?"
There never was an answer but it didn't matter. They went back out to fight. They were going to either walk away with victory, or die at each others side. They stayed close to each other, watching each others backs. Keeping each other safe. They looked in on their other teammates. Being slaughtered like cattle, falling to the floor as cold as the stones it was made of.
They were losing. Kaylessa had to hurry up, where was she anyway? Kaylessa was inside the castle. Looking for a way to the tower. It was hard to find, so high up. So many stairs, so many hallways, so much silence on the inside. She could hear the outside, it was chaos but inside, it was still. It was airy and she hated it. She walked, being careful to make no noise. She didn't notice how shaky she was, nor how much her feet hurt, and she'd already forgotten how bad she was at sword fighting. It all came down to this moment, if she won, it was over, if she lost, everything else was done for. It all depended on her now but she didn't feel the pressure. She stopped to catch her breath and broke into floods of tears. She carried going up, still crying, everything just got to her. The consequences of her losing, the pain she was in, the things she had seen. She had to do it, no one else could. She had to get revenge, on the blade, on Galdar and on life. Finally she got there. She knew that sneaking up on a sorcerer was not going to be easy but she tired... And, she failed.
"So, come to try and kill me, have you, my dear?" he asked.
"Yes, that is the plan, sweetheart" replied Galdar.
She threw the sword at him, he used magic to stop it, the sword falling to the floor in front of him and Galdar began walking towards her. She coward away, her bravery gone, her pain flooding back she cried again. Hiding her face.
Galdar hang her over the edge, ready to drop her.
"Hey ugly" came a shout.
It was Olithir, he found his way too, picked up the sword and -with no fear showing at all- advanced into a sword fight. Kaylessa regained her strength and joined in too. Trying to take away the attention from Olithir so that he could get it over with. This sword fight lasted hours. Finally it got somewhere. Olithir jammed the blade into Galdar and got splattered with blood. It didn't matter anymore. It was over. It was all over. The two elves embraced, rejoiced and ran back into the courtyard to celebrate now that it was over. But after going down their happiness went away. Avice and Ulelesse died, hand in hand, eyes wide open. It was a shock and they both cried this time. After the celebration, there were funerals.
"Goodbye, dear friends,
You left us as quickly as you came to save us,
You will be missed more than you than you know
And were loved more that you were told.
It is with a heavy heart
We send you away,
You are at peace and will never be awoken.
Dream in this never-ending sleep,
Dream and be at peace,
Just like you deserve.
And I will see you when it is my turn
For the darkness to claim me at last.
So long and goodnight." Kaylessa sang it beautifully even through her tears.
