Menju didn't want to get up for breakfast. He wasn't in the mood to eat anything. His parents had told him that the king's only son was coming to their house to make an offer on one of their remaining children. Menju was the oldest of nine children, and out of all of them he was the most plain looking. He had short black hair, dark blue eyes, an athletic build, and was about 5' 10" tall.  The rest of his family seemed to look as if they were angels. They had light blue eyes, with dark hair, thin bodies, and everything about them made people fall in love. It didn't take long at all for all but him and two if his siblings to be sold off, and the only reason why the other two weren't sold was because the twins hadn't come of age until just a few months ago. Menju was sure that he wasn't going to get picked, so he could keep his secret sexual encounters with his friend Gabe going.

Menju's mother came bursting into his room. "Get out of bed you no good for nothing boy. Get yourself cleaned up and look presentable. You must look good for when the young prince gets here. He will most likely choose one of your sisters as his wife today. Quit being lazy and get going!" She yelled at him, then quickly exited the room.

Menju slowly got up out of bed and stretched. He had seen the prince several times before. Menju would often go with his family to parties the king would throw. He had tried many a time to talk to the prince, but the guy never seemed to want to talk to anyone except for his personal guard. He got dressed then headed down to the kitchen. He might as well get a little bit to eat before the stuck up prick got there.

When he walked into the kitchen his father turned to look him over. "When was the last time you washed your hair Menju? It looks almost as if you poured a jar of oil all over it."

"He probably did papa. Menju is saving himself for the guy he has sex with, so he sabotages all offers." His sister, Reni said.

"YOU DO WHAT!" His mother yelled as she walked into the kitchen.

Menju rolled his eyes. "I don't sabotage anything. No one wants me except for Gabe. I don't know why you won't just give me to his family." He said, while grabbing a biscuit from the table.

"Gabe's family doesn't want you, and you know that with the money we could get off you we could buy more livestock. We need the money, and can't go throwing it all away just because you want to be your friend's worthless fuck toy. Now go back upstairs and wash up."

Menju sighed and went to go upstairs when they heard the sound of approaching horses. "I guess I won't be able to see him take away my sister because I'll be washing up." Menju tried to walk out of the room, but his mother grabbed his arm.

"You're not getting away so easily. You'll just have to embarrass yourself in front of royalty, now you go out there with us and greet them." She snapped. She didn't let go of Menju either, and he reluctantly followed her out the door.

When they got outside they saw the prince's guard coming up to them with an extra horse with him, and many more people riding their horses were following further behind. The guard pulled his horse to a stop, and the other obeyed as well. He scanned the family over quickly until his gaze fell upon Menju. He scowled as he looked Menju up and down. "You may be so poor that you can't afford to wash every day, but you'd think you could at least look presentable today for the prince." The guard said.

"We tried to get him to clean up, but you got here sooner than anticipated." Menju's mother replied.

"You should have tried harder. The prince deserves more respect than that." The guard snapped.

"Maverick, what are you getting worked up about?" The prince asked, as all the rest of the riders now joined them.

The guard pointed to Menju and said, "He looks as if he hasn't bathed in a year or more. We can't present him in front of the king like that."
